Points Credits

Not sure if this is in the right area, so feel free to move if necessary. I have 2 machines each running 2 5.91 smp's and 2 gpu beta8 clients.
I am using FahSpy to monitor progress. I've been told that this monitoring software doesn't take into acount the starting, stopping, writing, downloading, etc. for each client. That's fine.
My question is if both machines are monitoring 10,000+ ppd, between the smp's and the gpu's, and conservatively if i take off 25% of that production for all of the above unaccounted for(which i think is a rather larger percentage) why is my 24hr avg only around 11,000. I should be approaching the 20K ppd mark. I also have 2 lappy's running a 6.10b3 and a smp 5.91 as well as 2 other machines running 5.03's. Surely with all of the above the ppd should be at least 20k ppd. my log files show completions, sent work units, and thank you's for the contributions. What's the easiest way to find out where the missing ppd's are? This is getting a bit frustrating! :? My login and team # are::: Mr_Scary 80856

Thanx

Mr. Scary

ps-also when i look at current cpu's on line it shows 8. i have 2 quads, a duo core, and 3 singles. maybe i'm counting wrong but that should translate to 13..??...??

Have you tried counting how much each WU is worth and checking your stats to see if the points credited match your completed work units? If they do then there are no missing PPD's? I find the monitoring tools are helpful, but they often do not give a realistic figure. FahMon is closer to the mark normally and as differing WU's are allocated, with differing values the points can change drastically - the forecast is assuming you are running the same WU each time, over a 24 hour period. KAKAO Stats will show exactly how much you are being credited and when, you can work back from there? A quick look at your stats would indicate that points were being credited for around 8 CPU's which seems about right, but you will need to do the counting.

Regarding your active CPU's, depends on the clients you have on the Quads etc. 1 SMP client running on all 4 cores will only count as 1 CPU.

One thing to consider which is apparently rare, but happened to me, is if you get the same WU twice you won't get credit. Shouldn't happen but it does? Just check the Project number and the Run, Clone and Gen numbers, they should always be different for each WU on each machine.

An active CPU is in fact a client ... if you're using a SMP client on a Quad, it counts for 1 CPU.

So 2 quad + 1 duo + 3 singles = 3 SMP + 3 singles = 6 clients ... if you add the two GPU you also mentioned, that should be 8 active CPU (I don't know if the GPU are taken into account in CPU count).

than toTow for the cpu clarification. i guess gpu don't count:( i got 4 singles and 2 rigs with 2 smp's on them each. that matches the 8 it's showing.

I don't know if this helps and excuse me if you already considered this, but you can check the current projects and credits here http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummaryC.html, then work out your points. Look in your FAHlog.txt to see what Projects you have completed, then you can match this up with Kakao?

I'll have to put a pencil to this tonight as i think something is funny :? like i said a 25% reduction in production numbers of fah spy/mon which are within 50-100 pts of each other i think is a bit large but even so, i should still be above the 15k ppd mark. we'll see what's what later tonight.

thanx for the input.

You can run a SMP client and a GPU2 client with the same Machine ID with no ill effect on the work(or Points) but stats will count the identical Machine IDs as the same (only one)CPU.

WHOA! hold the phone! Are you saying that the two identical(almost)rigs i'm running #1. 2smp's and 2 gpu's & #2 2smp's and 2gpu's are being counted the same, or mirrored? should i have the 8 clients across 2 machines labled machine id's 1-8???? as opposed to #1 1-4, & #2 1-4?????? if that's the case, ummmm, that's where my phantom points are. i thought machine id's were only specific to the rig you were running on. does it look at my name/team# and say hmmmmmm, 2 machine id 2's???? If that's the case, what a revelation! AND, if that's the case, how do i change the machine id's without uninstall and reloading all 8 clients? not that if that's the only way i won't do it, BUT,,,,,,,,,

M$

btw, just for clarification, each client has it's own machine id, on that one specific rig:) smp#3, smp#4, gpu's however are both on #2! should that be changed?? NE1???

No, you have it set correctly. Each client on the same machine should have a different machine id#.

Edit: I just noticed you have 2 GPU clients on the same machine with the same machine ID#. Is that correct? It contradicts your previous statement. They should be different.

so each gpu should have a different machine #????? OK, then THAT explains the points not there

what's the easiest way to change the machine id on the gpu clients???? do i need to reload, or can i go in somewhere and just change the id on the second gpu running?

If your running the beta 8 GPU client, I believe you have to edit the client.cfg file with notepad.

If you go to the F@H GPU folder in the Start menu there's a link to the folder with the data files there.

Actually it's probably better if you upgrade to the latest 6.12 beta 11 client. It has a machine id# selector in the systray configuration menu.

If your running beta 8 you have to uninstall it first before you upgrade.
