running freshly installed windows 10
Running drivers from this website:
https://www.nv-drivers.eu/download-P106 ... 64bit.html
windows knows what the video cards are and sees them working:

But FAH shows this:

I was going to use this fix posted here:
viewtopic.php?p=327123#p327123
but the folder is not found in beta.
Video cards works. they ran out of the box with Linux.

Any reason why you are subjecting yourself with V8 alpha edition instead of tried and tested and working v7?

yes. quality of life. V8 has the feature to see all my systems on one page without the need of 3rd party tools. which I've been a big advocate for and it has saved me on more then one occasion already.
this is also an opportunity to collect more data for such edge cases like this already. p106 mining cards is a popular alternative since its cheap to obtain after the mining crash. they also don't have a video output, which make them E-waste for gamers. at the same time. these cards are the equivalent to a 1080 GPU. so mining/AI farms are not buying these unless they have to. for FAH farming hobbyists, this is the go-to card to get when building a hand-me-down rig.

Can you load
https://api.foldingathome.org/gpus in a browser on the client machine? Does the gpus file exist in the FAH data directory and is the folder and file writable?
The main problem with older GPUs is the efficiency is much lower if your electricity isn't cheap. The 120W TDP P106-100 does 500K PPD according to the LAR database. The 75W TDP P106-090 does 300K PPD.
A 115W TDP RTX 4060 does 3.3M PPD, and probably uses less than 115W if it's similar to other RTX 40 series cards I've monitored. And the 4060 still has resale value in a year or two. There's also the noise and heat from multiple cards during warm weather.

Actually they are equivalent to the GTX 1060, not the 1080.

Try V7 as a test to see if GPU engages. If it still fails on V7, fahlog for it will reveal more info why.
The reason I asked why you are using v8 is because it is in extremely early stage not only on functionality but our support, as most of the time we have no clue why it is not functioning.

installed Malwarebytes to manage my firewall settings.
it finally works.
