WU 1737 - unstable?

Hi all,
My machine is an Intel Quad 9450 with an ATI HD3870, running Vista Ultimate 32-bit. I've been folding away for the last month and half with almost no problems. I found I get a higher PPD using the GPU2 client on the 3870, and the 6.10beta3 console on 3 cores(leaving one available for the GPU client). All was going well -- my console clients were chugging away on mostly 458* and 459* WU's without issue. Yesterday my consoles received two 1737's and a 1736...and the crashing started. I pulled the GPU out of the mix, and got the same behavior. I pulled the 1736 out, and still crashed. Perhaps 1737 is not quite ready for prime time? I can't seem to find any information about it, or 1736, for that matter. Is there a way for me to 'ban' (for lack of a better word) certain WU's from my clients? As you can see, I'm brand new to this forum. SO, if there's anything I missed please let me know what I need to provide. Thanks for any help.

Here's one of the 1737 logs (from the point where it begins to work on the 1737) - the other one looks basically the same. You'll see an intentional shutdown or two, but the abrupt stops are the crashes. Also, yes, the 9450 is OC'd. BUT, I can tell you that it will run the Prime95 blend stress test 'forever' without crashing - I mean, well over 24 hours, and I shut it down manually. So I don't think there is a stability issue. Also, like I mentioned, it was running the 458*'s and 459*'s with the GPU for days on end, with no issues.

I just realized that I posted this in the wrong category. Hopefully a Moderator will move this to the correct one.

I don't see crashes in the logs ... but improper shutdowns, and then a client restart.
Prime95 (pure FPU calculation) is absolutely not FAH stable (mainly SSE calculations) ... Prime is old, and doesn't stresses the same parts that FAH use.
Try this test instead (it's based on Gromacs and use SSE instruction to stress your CPU ... it also detects multicore automatically) : viewtopic.php?f=14&t=430

Well, the improper shutdowns are the crashes.
I ran the Gromacs stress test for 14 hours today, and not even a hint of a problem. So again, it does not look like my system is the slightest bit unstable.
Any other ideas?

Passing the StressCPU v2.0 test does not guarantee a stable system for the SMP client. It does for the CPU client, but the SMP client is slightly more involved using much more memory, and 4 cores. You will need to back off your clocks 10% or more to get stability on all work units.

Well, back to my original post, I'm not using the SMP client. Only single 6.10beta3 clients on 3 cores (with separate machine ID's), and the GPU2 client (also with a unique machine ID), which leaves one core to feed the GPU.

When you say crashes, what kind are you referring to? BSOD? The Windows "Shall I send an error report?" kind? A system auto-restart?
As 7im indicated, OCing can cause problems for some types of clients (SMP) as well as certain projects (WUs) that are more demanding that the rest. Backing off the OC would be a good place to begin figuring this out so that everybody can agree that it isn't the OC. The only real test for FAH stability on an OCd system is unfortunately FAH itself.

I only witnessed one crash (although there were a number of them). When I saw it go, the computer became unresponsive, then black screen, followed by a very quick BSOD and the system restarted.

Reconfigure your OS so that it does not restart after a BSOD. Then you can read the messages and restart the machine manually. (Also, you'll have a realistic impression of how often you're having BSODs.)

Do you know the steps required to set my machine to not restart after a BSOD? I'd like to be able to catch those messages when they appear. And to be honest, I really don't need a "realistic impression" of how often my machine has BSOD's. It almost never does...until just recently (with this WU). And if it does, I know because I find my machine with a clear desktop -- no folding consoles or other windows.
