Passkey vs username question

Is a passkey tied to a specific username? I just re-read the Passkey FAQ and that point appears to be vague. What I mean is this:

I run the client under a variety of usernames in order to differentiate between different deployment locations. For those clients running V6, I've been deploying the passkey that I applied for under my original folding name, even though not all of those clients are folding w/ that name. Is that a problem? Do I need to register for a different passkey for each username? I sure hope not. :(

Reading this:
The passkey is a unique identifier that ties your contributions directly to you (not just those with your username) and allows you to prevent others from cheating in your name.
I interpreted it as folding is attributed to you via passkey, the username helps you track seperate deployments.
