I watched that a few times.... Though I don't think the real cards will be that huge.
Though, I'd hope NVidia produces a version that will fit nicely on a Threadripper Pro motherboard.

Great idea to power directly from the wall, still think the PCIE lanes may bottle neck performance somewhat, oh and the risk of users being sucked into the fan vortex may make this a poor choice for small apartments.

sometimes we forget what day it is.
in any case, the design should have been a Graphics processing system with a slot to plug in a CPU.
In dual/multiple power source arrangements, it is important for all sources to be on common ground.
You would think the Europeans would not have much problem with 1KW, as they are on 220V, so 5A + is sufficient depending on conversion efficiency?
I seem to recall a discussion with a friend on whether some high power device could run at home. I think it was 240V and the only receptacle is the one for the dryer? and the wife was not agreeable to a sharing arrangement?

US single phase voltage is 120V, dual and three phase voltage is 240V,
In Europe that's 230V and 400V.
400V is excellent for charging cars, which battery system often is between 270V to 400V.
On a European tri-phase socket, you can load 32 amps, or about 12.5kW. Those would make for a good bitcoin mining rig!
In USA, we're limited to about 30 amps at 240v, or ~7,5kW.

US single phase voltage is a nominal 110-120 V. What you are referring to as dual in the US is actually split-phase power, the nominal voltage is 220-240 V. Tapped off a 3-phase system it may be supplied at 208 V. Three-phase power may come at 240 V in some areas, but 480 V or 208 V is more common. 480 V three-phase is used in larger industrial settings or for large motors such as used for elevators.
Very few places still use true dual phase power, it is a holdover from the early 1900s.

Well... I like to keep the drivers as up to date as possible. Though, It will just make it easier for me to avoid the GPU WU dumping that occurs when a WU that would run fine on a GTX 1050ti (or newer), gets assigned to my GT 710's or GT 1030 card.

If the 4090 would perform twice or thrice a 2080 Ti, I would buy them.
Only if they can be used to the fullest extend.
At this time, very few (if any) WUs fully load a 3090, 3080, or a 2080 Ti even...
I think for folding and deep learning the low end 4000 series of GPUs will be excellent, just because I expect them to perform higher, while using even less power!
At this performance levels, the costprice isn't the biggest concern.
It's how many you can run, before tripping a breaker?

Greymon55, a data miner seems to have further information about the pending graphics cards. The data miner claims that the new cards are twice as powerful as the RTX 30 cards, but also consume twice as much energy as the previous models.

Could mean they were unsuccessful in releasing the 4000 series on the 5nm node.
Perhaps demand for 5nm CPUs is too high.
If I was Nvidia, I'd make their 4060-4080 GPUs on 7nm, and only their 4090 and Ti's on 5nm.
Apparently 3nm is also close to the horizon (2 years or so).
And IBM is experimenting with 1nm, but that usually takes 5 years to a decade to mature.
