Can it happen to us?

Could this happen to F@H? Or, could they wipe our data, or hold it for ransom? Are we "backed up" enough? This isn't going to stop on its own. What can the individual F@H contributor do to help prevent an attack? Do we have something the Russians want, besides money? Thanks.

Sure, it can. The primary method to get into business networks is employees who try to do personal activities on business PCs. I am sure there are people playing "free" games and going to gambling sites on campuses as well as businesses.
It is not clear that F@H data is stored at multiple sites, but it could be. Since it is supposed to be freely available to all, there can be multiple repositories.

This should cover most of the FAH work and collection servers.
37.187.12.48 France
54.157.202.86 Seattle?
128.252.xxx.xxx Washington University, St Louis
129.32.xxx.xxx Temple University, Philadelphia
150.136.14.110 Somewhere on planet Earth
172.31.11.240 Los Angeles?
206.223.170.146 Toronto
foldingathome.org - 104.18.18.145, 104.18.19.145
foldingforum.org - 104.18.24.60, 104.18.25.60
Both are in Cloudflare's namespace, in the cloud maybe?
I'm in UK and get a sub 30ms ping to both so it seems to be really well proxied wherever it's hosted.
