im new to this just want to know few things real quick. (ps im not newbie regarding computers just no time atm)

1. how do i know (if even possible) how much of my gpu is used? i want 90% lol) and is there a way to set it (assume the slider part, right?>) or do i have to revert to nvidia tools to monitor gpu usage?

2. you guys need clarifying off the bat ( as in bnold screamy letetrs) what exactly means "while im working" and " idle". i mean. so many questions... idle means it will stop working if i browse internet? while im working, does that mean if i start the gpu dependent game, my game gonna lag? and so on...
just most obviopus questions: so while im working, will use whatever slide is set on, and if game needs more than remaining free power of my gpu game will lag? meaning before i start game i should adjust slide accordingly?
and when idle means it will work as long as theres free unused power of gpu, but stop working if other programs start using it?

3. what im dedicating to. needs to be more clear. now i selected covid but it shows im dedicated to random stuff, and not sure wether its covid related or not. (bottom right text).
im a gamer, not a virologist. some sort of noob-friendly headline or something showing what exact arera or research topic im dedicating to?
-- for example, this doesnt sound much like covid or any other thing whatsoever... not clear enough:

I'm contributing to Project 17505

Project 17505 is room-temperature vanilla simulation of an apo kinase AURKA : N-MYC complex to explore protein-protein interactions.

With GPU it is simply on or off - you can alter power levels on the GOU but the way the code works it will use everything that it can get ... Obviously you can use any of myriad hardware monitoring tools even those you get as part of your OS to find out how much gpu is used.

Idle is when your OS reports the system as idle - so if you are doing anything then it is likely to count as not idle ... as to the answer to your other questions it will depend on so many factors - your kit - your OS - the games you are playing - and so on - that I won't try to answer other than say yes it may impact thongs you do but most folders spend the time to learn what works and what doesn't.

Stated preference in the interface is just that - a preference - if there are no WUs available for your stated preference you will receive other projects ... this is made clear in the guidance on the web.

Most questions people ask have already been answered either on the forums or in the FAQs on the website ... but people on this forum will always try to assist as they can when - remember though it is a volunteer run forum and so a "you people need to get your shit together" attitude might not be well received by all ;)

Yes. Please use the search function whenever possible.

Also, FAH is not a commercial endeavor. We don't have a sales department or a full-time website developer (etc.) Each University in the consortium has what might be called a chief scientist (though that term is not used). Graduate students and others doing research come and go and if anyone is dedicate enough and shows specific talents they, too, volunteer for some extra duties. Salaried "staff" is really rather limited.

While we may (or may not) agree with your suggestions, finding somebody to implement them is often a bit chancy.
