Antivirus possibly mangling projects

I've been having issues for a while now where Avast will detect an active FAHcore modifying its log file as a virus and halt it. Telling Avast to disregard and continue the process seems to cause FAH to return the work unit as a bad work unit. Supposedly Avast is supposed to remember to allow the process in the future but every week or two it does this. I've had similar problems with the antivirus and other programs that modify exterior files, and often this method of "harmlessly" halting and resuming seems to break them in some form. I hope I'm not ruining entire projects by having my computer flag WUs as bad when in reality there's nothing wrong with the. Tips on how to get around this?

Welcome to the folding support forum.
There is a long standing recommendation that the entire data directory for folding be excluded from scanning by antivirus software. That would include the log, data files, and the downloaded folding cores.

Welcome to the F@H Forum Ultrafire3,
Assuming you're running the latest version (V7.6.21) and using default settings, you would need to exclude these 2 folder locations (adapt for custom installation):
Installation: C:\Program Files (x86)\FAHClient
Data: C:\ProgramData\FAHClient
If you're running V7.6.13, then exclude these 2 folder locations (adapt for custom installation):
Installation: C:\Program Files (x86)\FAHClient
Data: %AppData%\FAHClient
