Hello.
So I have set the 'I support research fighting' to cancer.
However, when I scroll down, it says that I'm contributing to project 16810, a COVID 19 project.
No matter what is elect from the 'I support research fighting', it keeps saying that I'm supporting project 16810.
So which project am I supporting, Cancer or COVID 19?

The setting is a preference, not an exclusive setting. If there is work that is cancer related available at the time a WU is requested, that is what you will get. If not, then you will get whatever else is available and currently COVID-19 projects are set to high priority. Changing the setting will not do anything to the current WU. The WU will finish and next WU request will be for what the priority is set to.

Oh alright.
Didn't know that.
Thanks.

The client and server software is not written that way, and I doubt such an option will be added. You can always suggest such an option on the F@h Github site.

If you're selfish dck you'll as much be happy to support cancer research - maybe at some time it will save your life

FAH is dedicated to science and the software is designed to maximize the science that can be accomplished by whatever equipment you donate. If you express a preference, it will try to give you that, but if you happen to request a new WU when none of your preference happen to be available, it's better to give you something else than to leave your kit idle. Yes, you can make that suggestion, but I predict it will not be accepted.

Maybe cause preference in the client needs reworded to something like "This is only a preference, we may assign you work units from other projects if your preference is not available."

Regardless of individual preferences, FAH is dedicated to the stunningly complex study of protein folding as it relates to multiple diseases. A breakthrough in any one disease may very well lead to corresponding breakthroughs in other diseases and there is no way of knowing when or where the next Eureka moment(s) will occur. For that reason, I prefer to choose "Any" and let the FAH software and scientists decide how to best utilize my computer resources.

Most Covid processing happens this way, including on other clients.
You can only use your computer hardware for Covid, if scientists bring the data in.
And even then, they are often prioritized in such a way that you'll get at least 'some' WUs from other projects.
