Hey all.

Having trouble getting CUDA to work with my setup, for whatever reason. 2080Ti with most updated Studio and Game Ready drivers. FAH client 7.6.13 installed. Everytime it gets a new WU it will attempt CUDA then I get two lines of errors before it tries OpenCL.

"Failed to create CUDA context:"
"Illegal value for DeviceIndex: 1"

OpenCL is working great and I am generating anywhere from 3-3.5m PPD. Obviously if I could get an increase in PPD with CUDA working successfully then I would love to get it fixed!

First time posting on the boards so bear with me. Hope I have all the necessary information attached.

Please note that as per the Forum policy, you will need to remove this since you're not (yet) part of the Beta team:

I would think that this is causing the CUDA platform to fail so I would suggest that you remove it and see what happens:
<cuda-index v='1'/>

BTW, if you were to do it mid-WU, the WU would restart since the checkpoint is currently incompatible between OpenCL and CUDA. You may either set the Slot to Finish and then change the GPU configuration or if the WU is in early stages, can afford to restart it from 0%

Ah, yes. I totally forgot about the Beta. The only reason I added that was several months back I was struggling to get any WU, for days. I added Beta to see if the client would start receiving WU and it did, then I guess I never removed it. I will delete the beta profile tonight, finish the WU and see what happens. Will report back.

Alright, I gave that a try. I finished the current WU, removed the Beta profile, restarted the client and the error still persists with the following 5 WUs. New Log attached.

I believe I figured it out, changed the CUDA index to 0 instead of 1 and CUDA seems to now be operational. PPD projection has increased to 4.6m as of now!

When you only have one GPU, its index has to be zero. How did it happen to get set to 1?

I checked my other machine and it is exactly the same configuration and for whatever reason, it operates normally on that machine. Q9950 with RTX 2060 XC Ultra on Win 7. Pulling 1.5-1.8m PPD

GPU Index = -1

GPU core indices:
opencl-index = -1
cuda-index = 1

My machine with the issue was setup identically but keep giving me the error "Illegal value for DeviceIndex: 1" So I changed the Cuda value to 0, left opencl at -1 and restarted the Client and WU and it picked up CUDA on the first shot. I am unsure how it was ever set to that but both my clients have the same exact configuration and the Win 7 machine operates normally with the 2060 but the Win 10 and 2080Ti would not operate Cuda.

Weird.

Generally speaking, the GPU index values and opencl/cuda don't need to be set on most machines. They are helpful if you have a non-standard setup, i.e. Nvidia dGPU with AMD dGPU on an Intel iGPU all running for various reasons and then you want to use a specific GPU to fold.

BTW, in the next release, those values will be removed and a different system will be used. Thus, it would be nice to remove them if you only have GPUs from a single vendor in your system.
