Folding@Home Client Control Android App

Attention Android users!

I've been folding myself for about 3 years. I've always thought how nice it would be to be able to view all my clients' from my phone and be able to start/stop them from the comfort of my own couch.

So I made an Android app to do just that. Currently, the app lets you add clients (either manually, or let the app try find them for you) and start/stop them, and see if they are currently paused, running or ready for a work unit. An update will be coming out soon (say, a week?), which will extend that functionality to allow viewing work unit progress, viewing work unit ETA, setting folding power, and anything else you want.

If this sounds like something you'd be keen on, give the app an install!

I also have another app to view your user/team stats, I would love it if you could check that out also!

Please, leave any feedback in the comments below. I look forward to it!

Happy folding.

Thanks for taking the time to make an app!
I will check it out for sure, and give you some feedback.

I've just put an update up on the play store, the app now shows you work unit percentage, allows finishing the work unit, automatic refresh and some little bug fixes (like longer names!).
Link is in the original post! I'll have another update available in a few days, showing ETA, PPD, and other cool features. I'll reply here when its live.

Testing out the monitor app. Looking forward to watching it develop! Hopefully an ad free version will be coming out.

So far, the monitoring side is working. I see all the slots and percentages and the status.
One thing that is not working for me so far is controlling the clients. If I pause it using the app, or pause it on the pc and try to start it with the app, nothing happens on the client.
Not a big deal for me though, monitoring is the most important thing.

Sorry mate, didn't see this! Glad to see you're enjoying it.
I may make an in app purchase to remove ads, but I'll see how much interest there is in that first.

Did you have any other feedback about the app? :)

No problem. The app works great on the chromebook! On my phone, I have to flip the phone to landscape or part of the folding percents will be cut off. No big deal it all. Thank you for building this!!

Whoops - I'll make the percentages wrap round.

Glad to see it works well on a Chromebook! I hadn't even thought of testing on there.

Hello there, im verry pleased by the idea and hope it will develop further.

I have 5 Slots on this machine, your client control only shows 4 of them:

Maybe you can add something like "click on a client for a screen filling this-client-box"?

Half the time im not seeing the infos but a grey block. Network access is good.
May this happen if there is also running an Advanced Control on one of my computers?

If i had a wish free it would be single Slot control in the above mentioned screen filling Client box.
I block adds with my PiHole but I will pay for an add free version.

Regards,
Patrick

Hi Patrick, thanks for your screenshots.

I've actually already noticed that grey box error on my clients too. Should be fixed in the next version.

I only display a max of 4 slots or the controls would be pushed out of view. I could experiment with adding all slots, but make the client view scrollable, if you'd be interested in that?

Tapping on the client to view more info (and single slot control!) is coming in the next version!

Ad free purchase is coming in the next version too, a few people have requested that!

Thanks for your support :)

Scrollable client view may be good on a large screen, with my tiny screen and big fingers I wont be too happy with that.

What about a summary if a Box exceeds 4 Slots?
Like

Code: Select all

1 CPU Slot(s)
4 GPU Slot(s)
Tap for more

Thanks for your good idea. I'll implement that when I get a chance. Currently studying for finals!
