What are best AMD drivers to use

I am currently using AMD drivers 20.4.2
Occasionally, I will get an unknown enum error once the job is done (or at the end), but before it uploads. The job will eventually run again from the start and usually work the second time.
The drivers that I am using are the most recent but considered optional.
Does anyone know what the best AMD drivers to use are?
I am using windows 10 professional with RX 570 GPU.
Thanks.

I use those (albeit for a 5700XT and I still have 20.4.1):
https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics ... eon-rx-570 and they do the job without issue in Win 10 Pro.
Tuning Control: Automatic; Auto Tuning: Default.
Driver Version 20.4.2 WHQL

Afternoon all,
This isn't particularly a folding related issue (at the moment) but I'm getting occassional flickers since installing to the latest WHQL driver, I was previously running 20.2.2 which I had no problems with but I'm wondering if anyone else is getting similar issues with 20.4.2, at this rate I will be reinstalling 20.2.2 because I've already had enough of it.
I always use DisplayDriverUninstaller to remove the driver in its entirety to make sure there are no remnents left ready for the fresh driver, I'm thinking it is just AMDs legendary drivers yet again.
I think it'll be NVIDIA in the future (despite the NVIDIA tax), I'm about done with AMD.

I've just made a thread about 20.4.2, I'm getting weird flickers since installing it. I think the best so far are the previous drivers 20.2.2 so I'd look at reinstalling that to see if your issues go away.

You get driver issues with Nvidia too. It is always like one nvidia driver version works good and next 5 driver versions have several issues. It depends which games you play and using gsync or sharpening and so on ...
I look in nvidia driver forum what is the feedback for a new driver version. And if only issues with specific games are mentioned which I do not play - then I download that one.
Drivers are very complex because of different hardware and hundreds of games and applications. So it is always drivers fix one issue and probably generate another issue. Then new games or Windows updates get released and again drivers need to adapt.

The best are ideally the ones your hardware manufacturer supplies since graphics cards are made to a reference design but may not completely adhere to it. There's not really such a thing as a stock retail card, therefore sometimes using the generic AMD or NVIDIA driver for the card concerned can lead to stability or performance drop off. If you do not game then do not be concerned about using the latest AMD GPU driver for an RX570 because the chip has been out since 2017. The newer drivers won't necessarily bring any benefit outside of new game support through updated application profiles to hardware that old.

For reference since the two topics are essentially the same and I can't be bothered typing it out twice

I am not having flickering issues with 20.4.2. Vega 64. I also have not taken my card apart.
I have an nVidia 1060 on my laptop and it folds well; gets about 400k PPD and will run for days. For gaming, I find AMD better at running a wider range of games while nVidia seems to focus on the top 20.
AMD has a tax to it as well, and that shows up in your power bill.

Haha well it was running perfectly fine afterwards, it was only when I installed 20.4.2 I started getting the flickers

Perhaps updating your GPU BIOS might help.
Also, make sure you're not overclocking or undervolting the GPU (GPU/VRAM) too much.
Sometimes reseating the GPU in the PCIE slot, and HDMI cables, might get rid of some errors due to corrosion.

I should point out that 20.5.1 was released a couple of days ago. I have moved to it. Will post here if I have any problems.

Wow that is interesting, have you encounted any weirdness yet?

It's been out a couple of weeks as an optional driver, now W10 May Update (aka 2004) is out they have made it the release driver because it brings support for that primarily.

Well, I received the unknown enum error again. The windows event log traces it back to nt.dll, which is basically useless.
I don't think this is driver related, but that is just a guess. The fact that the WU generally runs on the second pass points to something random (most likely at shutdown). I am pretty sure that random values come into play in the computation of the WU. Maybe that has something to do with it. Or it could be some sort of threading issue.
I will keep running because this only happens about one in ten times. I just wish it was zero in ten. On the plus side, I almost have 10,000,000 points!
