Internet down - Can't upload completed WU's

I fold on a Linux Mint machine, and since last Thursday (April 30th), I have not been able to upload 7 completed WU's as my ISP's upload stream went down during the evening, and hasn't been running since!
The folding client (as shown by the controller) is now stuck in a perpetual loop trying to upload them. I've been told i'm looking at about the 18th May(!) before the issue is fixed, so i'm assuming the WU's will be invalid by then. Is there a way for me to stop the client running in the background for the time being?
