Hi,

I apologize if im posting on the wrong part of the forum. Feel free to move this thread to a more adequate location if this is the case.
Im new to folding and i guess im part of the mass of new users that started recently due to the COVID-19. I have a question of minor importance but still i would like to ask.

Some days ago i have set up two computers running the client a few hours a day. Nothing spectacular. Same Username and same Passcode.
What i would like to ask is, why does the "Overall rank (if points are combined)" still show zero?



Is it normal, or im doing something wrong?

I'll have to guess because you really haven't given me much to go on.

Are you running WIndows? Have you completed any assignments?
FAH only gives credits after an assignment is completed and it is uploaded back to the server.

When you start FAH does the webcontrol application open in your browser. If not, you can open it here.

Presumably there's information there about the assignment that that computer is working on. The green spinner shows that it's progressing. Next to it is a percentage complete, and a couple of lines farther down is says something like "My computer has 4.76 days to complete this work unit."

What percentage has been complete?

Near the center, it gives something like this:
14398 (7, 0, 2) 4 hours 32 mins 2434
Work Unit (PRCG) Work Unit (ETA)

The Assigned Work Unit is identified by the four numbers 14398 (7, 0, 2)
The ETA indicates that I will compete this Work Unit in about 4 hours 32 minutes provided my computer continues to fold for that long.
If I'm only running a short time each day, it could take several days to complete the assignment.

I just saw in this post viewtopic.php?f=61&t=34529
that suggests that ranking wont show until i hit 100K total score.
If this is the case, feel free to lock the thread. I now know what to do (wait ).

If you run it more, you'll notice the score really crank up fast. I've only been on F@H for about five weeks on two computers, and I'm up to almost 36 million points. Happy folding!

A couple of times I saw this happen on my statistics also. I think it happened about the same time as I was also getting the no work units available status.

Recently, I've seen something else a little odd. I find my ranking rapidly dropping.
at 2454 WUs I was ranked 35,733. Today at 2617 WUs I am ranked 64,941

There are a few factors at play here, the increasing donor base and the processing of Stats that were "missed". Combined, those factors can have a measurable impact on your ranking. I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you

The rank is based on the points earned, not the amount of Wu that have been completed.

The processing of the statistics involves a number of steps. I don't understand those steps completely but I do know that sometimes all of the steps do not complete properly. When I reported the problem a week ago, a remark was made suggesting that something hadn't happened properly. I think it's fair to assume that the rank is calculated in one of the later steps ... after everybody's individual points are calculated and the ranks can be determined. The fact that you now have a rank suggests that all of the latter steps were completed recently.
