Final Credit estimate = what you really get?

Hi, more a curiosity and a "FIRST WORLD problem" - points and credits are not the main goal here of course, just trying to understand how this works, behind the curtain.
I had many WUs completed, with a base credit lets say 700 (Estimated 2971 cpu) or based credit 16339 (estimated 82076 gpu) - never bigger numbers than these
Once completed and correctly uploaded, I get less than the base credit most of the time, even if the final confirmation Estimated CREDITS was the biggest number of the two

If you aren't using a passkey, you will get only base credits.
If you are using a passkey, you will get a Quick Return Bonus based on how quickly the WU's are done. This should be in line with the estimated credits that show in your logs. BUT those QRB points don't show up until you have successfully completed 10 work units. I think there is also a requirement for a percentage of started WU's be completed.
In short, if you have no passkey you will get few points. If you have a passkey and have just entered it recently, the points will come.

See
https://foldingathome.org/support/faq/points/ for a description of how FAH Points work - you will note to get the QRB you need to meet certain requirements … You can check details of any Project (Base Points, Timeout, Expiry Deadline) here
https://apps.foldingathome.org/psummary ... and you can check your Bonus Status here
https://apps.foldingathome.org/bonus

One more reason you migh be getting base points with no QuickReturn Bonus: If you fail to return the WU before the Timeout, you will not get a bonus. It doesn't matter why it wasn't returned before the Timeout.
1) Your hardware is slow and the WU was big.
2) Your hardware wasn't folding 24x7
3) My client had to retry the upload many times.
Item 2 is your responsibility. Items 1 and 3 can legitimately be blamed on FAH.
Item 3 is a known problem. Some steps have been take to improve that situation. The problem has not been totally solved and I expect further improvments "soon"
Item 1 is a joint issue. Describe your hardware, the Project being folded, and the total processing time. We'll investigate and see if anything can be done about it.

I am a little intrigued when you say you get less than base credit most of the time … I am in no way an expert but if a WU is returned after Timeout and before deadline and isn't faulty I thought you would get the base points … I am sure someone who knows better than I can clarify this.

I'm also intrigued by that statement.
@CaR Please give us the PRCG numbers of the WU where that happened.

Hi guys, thanks for prompt response everybody,
I've a passkey, more than 60 wus completed. I guess my system is not super powerful, and no I'm not folding 24/7, just during work time, around 12hrs a day.
my system:
CPU Intel (R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1230 v5 @ 3.40GHz - 32gb ram
CPUs 8
GPUs 1 NVIDIA: 6 GMS204 (GeForce GTX 970 - 3494
Rebooting the app seems solving the UPLOAD issues bugging me since 3 days. The Base credit/estimated on are reducing during the entire process. After receiving the UPLOAD COMPLETE and the ESTIMATED Credit (usually the maximum) does not corrispond of what is updated on persona stat/team.
The latest code I've got is above. And the received credit are closer to the base than the "big" estimated one.
For my configuration I'll keep having usually a max 6000 estimated (base 1000) on CPU, and a 85k estimated on Gpu (16k base)
Know no more than this,
thanks guys,
keep folding (let's just stop before SKYNET became self aware)

Welcome to the F@H Forum CaR,
Can you please post your log file. Ensure that you have copied the System configuration which is present at the start of the log file: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=26036

Assuming CaR is the name you are folding under the last 2 units returned by you both show no bonus. Both were returned in time to receive a bonus. Go to
https://apps.foldingathome.org/bonus to make sure your passkey is qualified. You may be failing units or not returning some on time. Post up a log per PantherX's post above.

Hi yes, CaR is my nick and I guess there are many of them (too late when I discovered, in my page there're other team received points and wu in the past)
The app
https://apps.foldingathome.org/bonus does not work using my nick and passkey not sure why.

Can you please ensure that the passkey doesn't have any typo. That site which informs you of the passkey status should work for all donors. I checked the most recent WU submitted and it seems that you're not getting bonus points. Have you already folded 10 WUs using the same username/passkey combination?

Yes indeed 64 at the moment since I started on my only team
https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor/CaR
those other one, done previously but some other car maybe the issue? since 3 of 8 are under 10 WUs? not sure
Pass is exactly the first saved on my chrome and used on the client FAH control. I tested a retrieve passkey to triple check, and I received a new one, is that right?
cheers

If you entered the same username and email address, you should be emailed the same passkey. If not, then there's a possibility that there's a typo or different detail provided.

put same name CaR and same only mail I use. (any issue if I put nickname lowercase?)
Original passkey
9xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx3
new one
8xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx2
not sure why they're different. In 4 hours I can retrieve it again and check if it matches the second one.
Question any trick to see the hidden passkey I used in the client software, locally? any dox, txt, xml where it's saved?
many thanks,
CaR
edit.: Plus not CaR/original passkey nor CaR/new passkey WORKS on the bonus check app page

Yes, here you go:
C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient\config.xml
It is best if you simply read it and not make changes as the client is very pedantic about formatting.
