and now, when i try to launch FAHcontrol, nothing happens. it doesn't appear in the dock, i don't get a new window, nothing.

when i launch FAHviewer, i see a window with a map of the world in the background. is that normal, or should there be some folding protein in the background?

Edit: fixed a typo

Ok, now I see some kind of molecule in the viewer window, but how do I change the settings? That's what FAHcontrol is for, right? Problem is, it still refuses to work. When I click on its dock icon, nothing happens.

The installation guide on the F@h website refers to and has download links for 7.4.4, but has not been updated for the current version. Try with the current version, 7.5.1. You can download from - https://foldingathome.org/alternative-downloads/.

7.5.1 has fewer missing dependencies for 19.10, but still has a few because it is 2 years old. There are a number of topics here where people have outlined how to install on Ubuntu 19.10.

There is a new version in the works, not sure exactly when it will be released.

Welcome to the F@H Forum harry747,

FahCore - The software that does the folding on your system
FAHClient - The software that manages FahCore and bandwidth usages along with instructions
FAHControl - The GUI which controls FAHClient
FAHViewer - The GUI which either shows a demo protein molecule fold or the actual one depending on FahCore
Web Control - The site that provides a simple GUI accessible via the browser

Can you please post your log file. Ensure that you have copied the System configuration which is present at the start of the log file: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=26036 :)
