I have a very newbie question. Why should i join a team? I understand that currently the COVID work is prioritized and gets assigned to the donors, but does it matter if I join team A vs team B? Wont all the teams be solving the same set of projects?

Entering a team number in your client just allows you to have your points count towards the team's total, for friendly competition. It won't change the projects you work on, the WUs you receive, the amount of points they're worth, or anything else.

I made my own team so I can keep track of my own progress made - I have two machines processing work units. If for what ever reason, I'm struggling to complete work units on time then at least the team stats will tell me this and I can either stop folding or change hardware/running times.

I'm also thinking about using F@H and similar projects as a new way of donating to charitable causes (even if students get something out of it and universities operate like commercial businesses). Having a team or at least a unique username allows you to see which projects you've donated your resources to and I think it'll be cool in years to come to look at.

For many of us, it's how we got into this in the first place. Whether that's thru a video seen on Youtube or Reddit or whatever.
