Donating 1000 CPU cores for 3 months

Hi everyone,
our university is donating 1000 CPU cores for 3 months to fight COVID-19.
It would be great if someone experienced out here would check that out and try to utilize this resource, for Folding or in another meaningful way.

Please see https://covid.ufal.mff.cuni.cz/ for details.

The configuration:
UFAL COVIDcloud is Linux based cluster providing aprox. 1000 CPU cores to support researchers working on a solution of the COVID-19 crisis. Most of our computational nodes have 125GB of memory (reserved for jobs) and 31 CPU cores. Available storage space is 10TB.
AFAIK it is a SGE cluster.

Note that I have neither the time nor the experience to set this up; at best, I can help with the communication with our university, but as the official point of contact are the cluster IT administrators, I think this should work fine even without my intervention.

Thanks a lot!

Thank you, and welcome!
I think you can "just" install the s/w on each node, but I'm not familiar with operating a cluster. The software should configure itself, it will probably try to use 30 CPUs per node (the folding space is split in 3D amongst cores, so 31 is not a good start for factorization).
I will flag this post for someone with cluster experience.

A 10000 CPU core thread exists … Your Tech Admins might find information in that useful as iirc it covered "bulk deployment/control" details … If only as a contact for your team the OP of the other Thread might be a good start … viewtopic.php?f=61&t=33314&p=318777&hil ... oy#p318777

I have no experience with clusters so I don't know how we could adapt FAHClient to this configuration, but I forwarded your offer to the FAH team.
