NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M 1GB not found by FAHControl

As a newbie I’m reluctant to open a new post at a trying time but frustrated still unable to use my NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M CUDA 1GB GPU even though the CPU of this elderly (2011 purchase) ASUS A53S-K53SJ Intel Core i5 laptop running Linux Mint 19.3 Xfce 64-bit has been crunching away at WUs for a week with its 4-core CPU just fine.

Linux Mint told me to install proprietary NVIDIA nvidia-driver-390 version 390.116 upon clean OS installation prior to installing FAHClient and FAHControl. I’ve deleted the FAHControl Configure>Expert tab gpu false entry, replacing it with gpu true then rebooting the PC only to find there is no further mention of any gpu in FAHControl settings when re-checking all the Configure tabs.

I’ve also installed using Synaptic Package Manager,

Code: Select all

ocl-icd-libopencl1:amd64 (2.2.11-1ubuntu1)
which probably goes to show how clueless I am as nothing has made any difference as still staring at last 4 lines of FAHControl System Info saying,
GPUs 1
GPU 0 Bus:1 Slot:0 Func:0 NVIDIA:2 GF119 [GeForce GT 520M]
CUDA Device 0 Platform:0 Device:0 Bus:1 Slot:0 Compute:2.1 Driver:9.1
OpenCL Not detected: Failed to open dynamic library 'libOpenCL.so': libOpenCL.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Can anyone tell me in baby steps what I need to do as a Linux and FAH newbie as I'm keen to contribute more?
TIA to all.

Welcome To Folding@Home!

I am sad to tell you you can't fold with that card.
When I check for compatibility, I look for two items: It needs to Support OpenCL 1.2 and be able to do Double Precision floating point math.

You card does not support OpenCL 1.2, and cannot fold.

This is not due to Linux, it is the hardware in the GPU.
