40.114.52.201 Failed to connect

Post by Magnepan »

Code: Select all

04:29:51:WU01:FS01:Connecting to 40.114.52.201:80
04:30:12:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Exception: Failed to connect to 40.114.52.201:80: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
Saw this a few times and figured I'd mention it since it's not the expected Failed to get assignment which is normal:

Code: Select all

04:30:41:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get assignment from '65.254.110.245:8080': No WUs available for this configuration
04:30:41:WU00:FS00:Connecting to 18.218.241.186:80
04:30:41:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get assignment from '18.218.241.186:80': No WUs available for this configuration
04:30:41:ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Could not get an assignment

The error in the first CODE block is what you get when the client can't connect to the server. The error in the second CODE block is what you get when the client can connect but the server has no WU for you. Both are pretty common these days; neither one looks unusual to me.

This IP is giving me all kinds of errors, likely due to the increase in demand in work as stated above. Funny that others do just fine though when I transfer from them.
Looking further into this, it looks like this server has the highest load out of them all in terms of sending work. If I'm reading this right, 125000 WUs an hour. That's 35 workunits a second. Averaging that to 50 mb, that's 1,750 mb a second throughput! I'm not sure if this is only dealing with sending and receiving, but regardless, that's an awful lot of strain for any server.
That's 6.2 gb of work just in that hour to this server. Those ssds are working double time, too, and I'm sure they expand to quite a large size when sent back to the servers too.
This has all been amazing work by everyone involved and it's good to see everyone helping out. I'm in it for the science. I don't have the fastest machines so this isn't effecting me that much, but I've been renting a few online temporarily and have been noticing the GPUs and CPUs aren't pegged like they normally would be.
My only (small) worry is that the servers are brought online, only to have people stop folding and tons and tons of work left. I hope not.
