CPU process not working?

hello,
I installed Folding@Home two days ago and successfully completed a WU for the project SARS-Cov-2. After that, the client indicates it's running but no identifiable information appears. It also looks like it's doing nothing CPU-wise and everything is GPU-wise, when at full power. When at light power, nothing runs at all, nor CPU nor GPU (while for my previous work unit, "light power" was driving properly the CPU while not using the GPU).
I am running on Windows 10, 12GB RAM, quad-core AMD 64 bits. The display says:
ready
Ready. -- 0 (0, 0, 0) 0.00 secs 0
Points per day
My computer has unknown time to complete this work unit
The problem is that I prefer to use CPU instead of GPU because my laptop is not fast enough to catch up with ETA's of GPU tasks. For example. The ETA of the current running task is 8 days but I have only 6 days left to complete it, so it's a waste of resources. Is there a way to deselect completely the use of GPU?
to sum up, I have two questions:
1/ is there a way to only run CPU's?
2/ Why the CPU side of the client does not currently indicate anything while it was working properly up until yesterday?
thank you
