FaH client doesn't start when booting or logging in.

I've done an "express install" of FaH client, and rebooted my PC.
To try and get it running I've run firefox and gone to client dot foldingathome dot org
It tries to connect to my client, but just times out and comes up with this:
Your browser was unable to connect to a Folding@home client running on your computer.
1 Install the Folding@home client.
2 Make sure your Folding@home client is running.
3 Reload this page.
Step 1 is already done but I'm struggling with step 2. I've tried finding FAHClient.exe in my program files and double-clicking it, but that just makes a black window come up and then disappear.
Any idea what to do?
Obligatory system details:
Computer Specs: Specifically CPU type and speed, RAM amount and number of CPU cores, especially. Don't forget your GPU type if you're folding with it.
CPU is a Ryzen 2600 (6 cores, 12 threads, 3.4 GHz), RAM is 16Gb. GPU is and AMD RX570 with 8Gb of VRAM and two fans (Sapphire Nitro+).
Network Connection: Network is motherboard to router via ethernet cable, then router to plug in the wall marked "adsl" by some other cable.
Operating System: Windows 10 Home, Version 1909, OS Build 18363.720 Updates last checked for about midnight last night.
Overclocked?: Just the GPU - Core voltage 900mV, power limit +20%, temp. limit 85 C, core clock 1410 MHz, memory clock 1750MHz. Fan curve starts at 30% at 30 C , goes to 100% at 80 C , and is steeper at the hotter end.
Stable?: No formal stability tests done.
Software: Don't know how to tell without making it run. Installer was "fah-installer_7.5.1_x86"
WU details: Haven't started them yet.
