Folding Forum

Hello, all!
I'm GreenWombat, and I just started folding earlier today after seeing that NVIDIA article on Reddit. I read through an earlier post that said that the servers were a little bit overwhelmed with all the new support coming in, so I suspect that my problem is probably related to that? Either that or I just don't know how to work this yet, which is equally likely
So I was folding earlier today, then I put my computer in sleep mode and it seemed to still be folding fine later. I left it alone for about an hour and came back to my client page in the browser not displaying any projects and just refreshing itself over and over. I restarted my computer and the same thing was happening. That made it very hard to click the forums button, but here I am, luckily. It says that my folding client isn't on, but I have the FAHControl and visualizer on. It says 'Connecting' on the FAHControl highlighted in orange, but also says 'inactive' right next to it in gray. The visualizer is displaying a demo protein.
How do I fix this, or is this something I just need to wait out? Thanks so much for the help!

There's a known refresh problem when Chrome is your browser. I suggest using a different browser.

When a GPU that is actively being used is switched to sleep mode, the active work can get corrupted. [Thanks Microsoft] CPU processing resumes normally.
Probably best to reboot.

Can you get to your logs? If not, whenever I have encountered this error (haven't in forever), I've had to reinstall the FAH Client.

You could try all of the usual things, make sure your video drivers are updated, MAYBE do a windows update (though this could cause other problems given how bad some of the recent updates have been), etc.

The visualizer is a known issue, and unfortunately is a very low development priority because it doesn't affect the quality of the science done. Do search the forums before you create a new thread because the admins/other knowledgeable people are all stressed because of all of the new folders and increased workload.
