Nevada fighting to keep 'zombie deer' from entering state

The disease is neither viral nor bacterial. Instead, it is transmitted by prions — protein particles that have been linked to brain diseases including mad cow disease in cattle and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans. Prion diseases damage brain tissue, leading to abnormal behavior, and are incurable.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has raised concern that chronic wasting disease may pose a risk to humans.

I haven't seen a discussion of prion diseases here, but they would seem to be right up FAH's alley.

Prion diseases were some of the very first diseases studied by FAH ... but that's been almost 20 years, so you'll have to dig deeply into FAH's history to find the discussions.

If you mean the active researcher, yes. If you mean the senior professors whe are reponsible for each of the FAH labs, then no. They were probably the graduate students at Stanford in Dr. Pande's lab back then and might of been the principal researchers who did the original studies of prion diseases.
