Radeon Settings wont open/crashes, or OpenCL missing?

I had both of these issues even after buying a new card to try and fix it.
I fixed it by enabling Intel Graphics in my BIOS (Asus P170 Pro, Intel i7 6700k CPU).
I had disabled it ages ago because I had a decent card then (RX 480) and didn't see why I needed it.
1. FAH said no OpenCL found, plus Radeon Settings won't open
2. I checked Windows Event Viewer
3. Application log showed "RadeonSettings.exe crashing due to igdrclneo64.dll"
4. igdrclneo64.dll = Intel Graphics OpenCL driver
I guessed igdrclneo64 might be crashing because I'd disabled Intel Graphics (or "iGfx") and that turned out to be the case.
I see igdrclneo64 mentioned in both ATI and NVidia forums so it must be a Microsoft or Intel dll.
Maybe this might help someone. I don't know about the Intel CPUs without the iGfx though...

FAH does not support Intel GPUs. Radeon setting won't work unless you have a Radeon GPU. Intel OpenCL will be ignored by FAH.
Install an AMD or NVidia GPU along with drivers from NVidia or AMD.
PLEASE post the first couple of pages from FAH's log. (See below)

Let me clarify:
I have an AMD Radeon Vega 56 + AMD drivers.
FAH detected no OpenCL available.
In addition to that My "Radeon Settings" (the main Radeon app for configuring stuff) crashed when I tried to run it.
I fixed both the above problems by enabling Intel Graphics in the BIOS.
The cause of the issue is because Intel OpenCL driver gets loaded into the Radeon memory space, whether you support it or not, and crashes if iGfx is disabled - thereby making Radeon Settings crash and presumably other things that try to load Intel OpenCL.
Maybe something tries to enumerate the available OpenCL providers and when it tries to sniff out the Intel one for its capabilities it crashes at that point. Guessing.
Here's the relevant modules loaded into Radeon memory space right now:
RadeonSettings.exe pid: 12260
Command line: "C:\Program Files\AMD\CNext\CNext\RadeonSettings.exe" atlogon
Modules
C:\Program Files\AMD\CNext\CNext\RadeonSettings.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intel\OpenCL\bin\x64\intelocl64.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intel\OpenCL\bin\x64\task_executor64.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intel\OpenCL\bin\x64\cpu_device64.dll
FAH might not support Intel but it gets loaded anyway.

OpenCL from Intel will be problematic. Iinstall one from AMD or from Khronos.
I did open an intel ticket and they told me that ther was an earlier conflict if both were present and that their latest version no longer conflicts with a Khronos version. I'm not sure I believe them but it did seem to work on one machine I tried it on.
You may need to remove that Intel driver (and reboot).

I have no need to use the Intel one - the Intel graphics drivers get installed by default by Asus/Gigabyte et al when you run their mobo setup CD.
I just wanted to provide a possible solution to the hundreds of reports out there of "Radeon Settings not loading/running/crashing" and mentioning igdrcl*.dll in their error reports.
The fact it gets FAH working too is a bonus.
Before I applied my fix the FAH log had no OpenCL devices listed. After the fix:
GPUs: 1
GPU 0: Bus:3 Slot:0 Func:0 AMD:5 [Radeon Rx vega]
CUDA: Not detected: Failed to open dynamic library 'nvcuda.dll': The specified module could not be found.
OpenCL Device 0: Platform:0 Device:0 Bus:3 Slot:0 Compute:1.2 Driver:2841.5
OpenCL Device 1: Platform:1 Device:0 Bus:NA Slot:NA Compute:2.1 Driver:25.20
Win32 Service: false
<slot id='1' type='GPU'>
Removing the offending driver completely is the better solution but it's taken me 2 weeks to figure this issue out and I want to crack on and do some protein origami!

Does you computer happen to have switchable graphics? (It's frequently available on modern laptops, and it saves power by switching between 3D graphics and the iGPU depending on the activity level of graphics )

My PC is plugged into my 4k UHD OLED TV and iGfx isn't man enough. Even forum browsing gets the opulent but wasted 4k treatment.
It's purely a self satisfying smugness seeing "4096x2160 @ 60Hz TrueColor 32 bit" and all I'm using is notepad.

You are probably not using the best Intel OpenCL run-time. See

Thanks Bruce - will check it out.
Good news. I put my old Radeon RX 480 back in my PC, alongside my new Radeon Vega 56 and they cohabit nicely doing their own WUs.
Both are on par though, progressing at the same rate. Thought Vega would spank 480 just little bit.
WU01:FS00:0x21:Completed 5500000 out of 12500000 steps (44%) - Vega
WU02:FS01:0x21:Completed 5500000 out of 12500000 steps (44%) - 480
2 instances of FAHCore_21; one @ 2% CPU (Vega) the other 10% (480). Full Folding Power, natch.
I'm not raising an issue here, just an eyebrow at the synchronicity.
Same project type btw (14163 / 14166 - Protein-protein interactions)
Vega PCI Express 3.0 x16, 480 PCI Express 3.0 x8.
Weird. Will look into when I'm awake...

Check the manual for your M/B. It will probably help with the x16 vs. x8 issue.
