Windows Issues?

I installed the program last night and set it to work full load while I'm working. Checked back a bit later (it was making full use of 7 of my 8 CPU threads and about 90% of my GPU) and found that my CPU was at 0% progressed and my GPU was at about 6.5%. I also got multiple error messages from Windows saying the program has stopped working, and it never showed up on my taskbar, only in my task manager. Should I try reinstalling the program maybe? I have no idea what could have gone wrong at this point.

Specs: ASRock Z77 Extreme4, Intel i7-3770K, MSI GTX 1070 (Gaming Edition), and 16GB of DDR3-1333. I also have a 750W power supply from Antec however I doubt that matters as much.

The program web control doesn't show points, or work units, or ETAs...or anything really. Anything I can do that might fix this? (Keep in mind I have no access to the program either because it won't show up on my task bar to let me access the actual controls for CPU, GPU, etc.)

Hi AuraNightheart, this is known problem in FahClient. You can fix it by either switching to FahClient 7.4.16 beta or editing the cpu slot options to limit it to 6 cpus.
Edit: Oh, you said 7 of 8 CPU cores are under full load? Then this is a different issue...

I downloaded the new beta client and everything shows up now (points, etc.) My GPU is now folding too. However, my CPU is still at 0% and only says it will earn 622 points...is that normal? Whenever I stop folding and start folding, my CPU starts but then immediately stops again and I get an error message saying the program has stopped working. If I start and stop folding again, it continues to work for a few seconds before I get another error message and then the CPU goes to 0% and is yellow in the web control. Is there any solution for that? Maybe my CPU doesn't work right with the program?

You could choose to disable the CPU folding slot and continue on the GPU only which generates the most PPD anyway.

Ah, this is another known issue in the current cpu core.

As a work around unset the OMP_NUM_THREADS environment variable.
Windows Control Panel -> System -> Environment variables and it`s under Path for the FAH client

Then Quit the FahClient and start it again or reboot your PC.

Rename it to "Disabled_OMP_NUM_THREADS".
I don't know if you run other applications on your system while folding?
If any other application would be affected by this then you can undo this change again.

I'll often have a few tabs on Chrome open, watching YouTube or on Reddit, but nothing intensive. I usually turn off folding when I'm gaming.

I have set it to Disabled_OMP_NUM_THREADS but unfortunately I still get the same error when I tell the program to start folding, and then my CPU goes back to yellow on the program/idle.

OK, Internet Browser and Games do not need this OMP_NUM_THREADS thing :-)
Now you need to restart your PC then folding on CPU will work (I hope).

Yeah. Occasionally I get errors saying the program has stopped running, but if I reload the page it just keeps going and is fine. My CPU is now up to 29,000 and my GPU is at 11,000 so it does take some time to adjust. (Originally it was 40,000 and 12,000, but the time was also lower so I assume it takes a bit to get correct estimates).

Thought it won't make a huge difference, I recommend pausing the GPU slot(s) and leaving the CPU slot running. The game should still perform nicely. (The GPU does not share resources nicely with games.) You'll still have to remember to restart the GPU slot when you finish gaming.

A better option is to configure your GPU slot to run on "idle" It will stop whenever you're doing anything (including gaming) and restart when Windows decides your system is idle.
