Is it possible (and what would the impact be - e.g. reduce # times to update per day) that while the stats are being updated that the existing stats be left to display?

the point here is that the existing stats use the same db that we're entering into. If we allowed access, then the stats update would be very slow.

Whenever the official stats are down just use Kakao. It shows more info than you probably even need.
