Stopping FAH correctly? [ctrl+c or quit]

Good morning all

A Newbie question today.

I don't regularly leave my computer on overnight. Is there a correct procedure for shutting down the FAH before shutting off my computer?
Over the past few days have been working on a WU and through anti virus programme and other misc. reasons my computer has re-booted several times. So last night the log file for the current WU said that 8 consecutive improper terminations of core had occured and the WU re-started from the beginning and I was 75% done. oh well....

Apart from leaving computer running 24/7 - are there any other hints or tips 'old hands' at this can give me?

If you're running one of the Console (text-based) clients, the proper way to stop it is to type CTRL-C in the text-based window. If you're running one of the GUI clients or the systray client, there's a "quit" on the context menu of the icon, though that's probalby not necessary as long as your OS does a clean shutdown. If the power to you computer is interrupted without a shutdown, there's a reasonable chance that you'll lose data.

I have a red cog icon in my system tray, so that means systray client? Previously I have always simple paused the work once it has complete a frame and written and then shut down my computer. I've not had any power interruptions so presumably all is ok with the data.

I will now also 'quit' the systray client before shut down of my computer.

Have I caused any other issues by these improper terminations, other than more work for myself? (well the computer is doing the work, but you know what I mean).

Pause work is specifically designed for the case when you plan to un-pause. Do not pause before you shut down.

Thanks for that info, will not use pause, before quitting client from now on when shutting down computer.
