Issue with F@H Chrome Client

I've been using the F@H on the Chrome app for about a week off and on now. I've contributed a total of 34 work units, but theres a problem. From what I've been told by my friends that also fold, they get a new work unit each time they finish the last one. I also looked on the FAQ, and it said it would be 'highly unusual' to get the same protein twice, never mind work unit?

Is this normal, am I doing something wrong, and more importantly, how can I contribute to multiple Work Units and not just project 2983.

Many thanks :)

Welcome to the folding support forum.

What you are seeing is normal, there are only a couple projects currently running through the NaCL client for Chrome. Each WU for these projects has four numbers associated with it - Project, Run, Clone and Generation. This is often referred to as PRCG. So while the project number will often be the same, the other numbers in the WU ID should be different and signify that you have an unique WU to process.

Cheers :D

Just curious, are there any ones related to Cancer on the NaCL client for Chrome?

At the moment the two projects listed for NaCl folding are not directly related to cancer. Reading the project descriptions available from the Project Summary page, they are investigating a peptide involved in diabetes.

Whether or not projects related to cancer will be run through this client has not been announced, and would be up to the PG researchers. If they will be using the NaCl client for Chrome for such a project, it would be announced at the time of the project starting.

Edit: Just after finishing this post, I noticed a new announcement of two more projects to be released for the Chrome client - viewtopic.php?f=24&t=28121. The listed disease is Alzheimer's, but the project description includes mention of cancer as possibly being affected.

im a new nacl folder who migrated from from windows v7 client and the "cause preference setting" was the very first thing i noticed while the chome page loaded.
if there was a preference setting, i would definitely use it for "cancer" but in its absence any other project would be fine in the name of science and discovery.

here is something i just found browsing from another forum member... and from what i remember back when the "cause preference" first debuted,
it did seem like it was offered as a "priority setting" based on projects in queue. viewtopic.php?f=61&t=27855#p277632
