Should I, Would I, Could I?

Hi all,
Still pretty new to all this F@H stuff but i've been playing around with running it on my photo editing pc.
It is a G3258 (oc to 4.3ghz) with 8gb ddr3 1600mhz RAM, and running an Asus 6970 DC II. I do have a 7770 laying about so was wondering if i could plug that in and fold with it too? I understand that i can't run them in Crossfire though as i believe they have to be of the same series?

Fah supports running on each one of multiple GPUs, but separately. Fah ignores crossfire.

Ah ok, so i could plug it in without crossfire (i don't think it's supported anyway) and run one on each card?
I should i be making any changes to the default setup letting fah decide cores etc?

The default settings are the recommended settings for most people.

During the initial setup, the FAHClient configures itself with a slot for your CPU and a slot for each GPU. If you add a second GPU after FAH is already running, you need to manually add the (third) slot or repeat the installation process.
[We can help you with that if needed.]

I think i managed it,
Fah now shows that i'm working with 1 CPU and 2 GPU slots.

The only strange part is that i have checked my GPU Usage in things like GPU-Z, MSI afterburner and Catalyst Control Centre and shows this.....

I have checked in control panel and the drivers are seen and recognized correctly.

At this point a FAH log would be useful in getting the 2nd GPU to fold. See link in Bruce's sig for more info about posting said log. Any chance you managed to take the screen captures while one of the GPUs was writing a checkpoint? GPU FahCores do a sanity check of data when checkpointing. At that time GPU utilization briefly drops to zero.

Is 18k ppd normal for that 6970 or is it about half what it should be getting? Good chance both units are really running on the same card.

Rel25917,
You has me wondering too. If you look at the screenshot from Urbanfreestyle's post the two GPU slots are running on different GPU types.

I took the 7770 out for now as i felt it was heating / blocking the 6970 but 18k seems to be what i get from the 6970. I'm thinking it might be better for me to sell both cards and get something like a GTX 580?

Personally, I'd get a GTX 750 Ti rather than the 580. The cards cost about the same and the productivity of the 750Ti is slightly lower, but the power draw of the 580 is MUCH higher than the 750Ti. The power costs add up over time, but also, maybe it's because it's a hot day and my computer is putting out a lot of additional heat, but that's still what I would recommend.

Urbanfreestyle,
If you can get the GTX 750 Ti, you will save power. The specification for the 750 is 60W, and the 580 is 244W.

Ah ok, so the 750Ti would be a better option? I run Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop too and i know they can use GPU accelleration but they say that i should get a minimum of a GTX770.
I feel that for some reason my cards aren't putting out a good ppd and can't work out why. Any ideas?
