i feel like i posted about this before, but cannot find anything in my post history about it >.> -shrugs-

anyway, i have a couple machines that have 2 threads, and are unable to get wus when set to smp:2. i could use nacl but i'd like to save that for last resort since it requires more tending than using v7 (which is more or less set-and-forget).

system: (yes, i know it's not the fastest thing in the world, but it's better than nothing :ewink:

iirc, 171.67.108.200 assigns classic wu's (uni/non-smp) and 171.67.108.204 is a ws that is set to accept only (and has no units either).

this said, why am i not getting redirected to an appropriate AS for smp units and then getting forwarded to a WS with wu's for my config? i see at least several WS that have compatible units and ample supply. hopefully someone can point me in the right direction with this, and thanks in advance :)

No such thing as UNI or non-SMP work units since core_78 was retired a few years ago.

All current CPU work units are SMP only. Some projects support core counts of 1 to many, some are only 2 to many. Some are 2-8, or 2-16, some are 2-6, 8, 10, 12. No odd numbers. Some are 16-160.

If the client can't get work, you probably messed with the client proxy or network settings.

nope, which is the odd part, because i would normally interpret that as a networking error, but i don't have any fancy configs or anything for networking on this laptop. going into browser works fine and if i type the ip in i just get the normal assignment server splash page (as expected). if you could think of anything else to look at i could take a look, but it has virtually the same network settings as my desktop , and that has no issues getting wu's and eating through them.

edit: found issue, apparently installing as a service caused something janky to happen in firewall settings vs a normal install. i will make a note of that, and sorry for any trouble caused by my oversight in checking firewall earlier (then again in all my years using comodo this is the first time i've seen it do this, so there's that)
