My local machines dont have that much folding power and i would like to expand my computing power to the cloud. Where should i go that can provide me a servers that will yield high PPDs?

No idea, cloud folding has proven to be either slow (free instances) or expensive (dedicated multi core instances.

Personally I would look to put a cheap gpu into one or more of your local machines if can.

The free tier instances from Amazon are nice to learn the cloud computing but not much more. Can't make any deadline or it just not make enough points worth the time to look after it. A dedicated instance in Amazon is rather expensive in the long run leaving you mainly spot-instances. But using those always contain the risk to lose the current work with not notification if the bidding limit you set is less then the market. Its fun but a gamble (I do it from time to time if I want to chew some BA-WU for points; but have a regular backup script to reduce the risk of WU).

I also looked once to Microsoft Azure; but at that time the price structure was even worst. if you enter "cloud folding" in google you get some other suggestions out of the area of crypto-currency. Never tried those as I don't have any bitcoin or sufficient alternative coins to try.

Conclusion: echo the suggestion from Nathan_P; a simple NV Maxwell 750Ti is good for some 70kPPD ; those cards just need a PCIe slot and not much support from power supply. Or for a bit more initial investment also a NV GTX 970. I'm biased with nvidia hardware; AMD might have similar cards to offer; I just don't have the overview.

Ok, i will order some new ones soon. But i know amazon AWS has a GPU instance running nvidia grids(not sure exactly which model.) but assuming money dosent matter how many PPD can that thing pull?

Last time I tried I think it was a GTX 680; but I was not able to get the GPU to fold. Forgot the exact error messages but somehow I think the virtual setup and driver available made it difficult. But give it a shot and let us know your experience.

I tired this as a "selected" guest when HP launched there cloud computing about 4 and a bit years ago as a new user on the anon team, it just about made deadlines for 90%... However when the cost structure came via email it was to be a very costly job so after the trial i left it.

If its shared its pointless, if its your own it does work but unless you have really deep pockets its not worth it.

Plus i didnt have the know how to set it up so had a friend set it up for me.

You've addressed the two general problems that FAH will have with cloud computing.

1) GPU folding is highly dependent on the latest native drivers. Shared drivers won't cut it.
2) Shared CPU resources will fold, but the company supplying them is going to make their money by charging more for high-performance resources than for low-performance resources. As they sell more and more of the system, Costs will go up and Performance will go down.

Mainly you can only feel good about the points and if you like use them as means to compare your contribution with others in your team or the overall community. If you google "folding home reward coins" you might find two alternative coins and a customer rewards system. But all those are fully 3rd party driven and have no affiliation with F@H at this point in time. They adding also some complexity, so If you are new I would suggest to first gain some experience with standard folding and the look further.
