NEW TO FOLDING, only place I can see to put in my question, most of what I see here is over my head. We're retired, veteran general users, adopted son died of Familial Amyloidosis several years ago--would like to 'fold' within our budget--and are considering a new 'hotter' machine for other household purposes. With about $370 or a little more for CPU & MB, plus a graphics card, would you give us a couple of recommendations? Like to support AMD. Maybe more on the graphics card end would make up for that--I know you used to prefer Intel because it ran Fortran better.
We need to cut our Comcast speed back to cut their bill down to size, but I'd guess the actual downloading / uploading of a work unit or whatever it's called is not a big part of the picture?
We're not going to make Folding a Major Project -- shifting gestalt on climate and trying to get Democrats to deepen thinking get lots of attention (we're communications / meanings folks). But if we can shift the configuration to make it more useful to you during "off times", we'd like to.
