Your username was modified...

I just registered for my passkey, and in the passkey e-mail it says:

"Username: Taylor_Piercefield - **Note that your username was modified because it contained troublesome characters".

I know this is probably a silly question, but to my knowledge the only username I had to that point was "DrPiercefield", which obviously contained no troublesome characters...so what changed and why?

My client and web control still show DrPiercefield, so I'm confused about what was actually changed.

Any input would be appreciated, Thanks

Welcome to the folding@home support forum DrPiercefield.

Is it possible that when you entered your Donor name you put your email address or your real name in that field by mistake?

You can simply register again being extra careful when entering the data.

I'm sure :) When I signed up for the passkey, there were only two fields,...name and email address. When registering for the passkey, it asked for my name and I entered "Taylor Piercefield". Perhaps the space was the troublesome character, and it added the underscore.

When signing up for my passkey, I guess I should have put DrPiercefield when it asked for my name, and not my real name?

And thank you for the quick response and the welcome :)

FAH UserNames prohibit spaces and a certain number of other "troublesome" characters. The rule that is posted on the registration page used to say letters, numbers, and underscore only. In fact, there are probably a few other characters that could be allowed but there are others which MUST be excluded because they're interpreted by various pieces of software used internally by FAH. ~= &,(}[^\ is not a user name, and that's just a few that I can think of, not an exhaustive list.

All kidding aside, how about just using a name with just numbers and letters and underscores and letting it go at that?
