HD 7950 shows 0% activity, yet fah client says its folding.

Hi Folders,
So I installed the fah client this morning. I have both CPU and GPU (+ graphics memory) overclocked (full specs below). While I was running at full load my graphics driver crashed a few times, so I clocked my HD 7950 back down a bit. I'm not sure what the load was before the driver crashed (didn't check), but since then the 7950 stays at idle temperature and shows no activity whatsoever, yet the fah web and advanced client says it is folding. Anybody have any idea what the problem is and how to fix this ?
Thanks in advance

Could you post the folding client's log including the system and config portions so we can see what the client thinks it is doing.

Erm, where can I find the logs ?
P.S. I just reset the 7950 back to stock speeds and it shows a full load again

But I still want to post that log, because if possible I would like to run my card overclocked. All the tips you can give me are welcome. I need me to mine some karma
(Had to tweak the voltage on my CPU as well, worked perfect with Prime95 stress test, but I crashed several times this morning when I ran the client for the first time)

Run the advanced control and click the log tab then click refresh and select the whole log and then copy and paste it here between
and
tags.

Darn, I forgot to mention that I closed the client when I reset the graphics card, so the log you wanted to see is probably gone.

Best tip we can give you is that overclocking increases the chances of calculation errors that will be detected by the folding core and cause it to exit with an error. Prime95 is a poor test of a GPU's ability to be overclocked, F@H stresses different sections of the GPU doing its calculations. Pretty much always you will have to use an overclock that is less than usable with Prime95 to have a F@H stable GPU setup. Some have reported that reducing the memory (over)clock has resulted in a bit more latitude in overclocking other portions of the GPU. As F@H's GPU folding core is not very dependent on faster RAM access, the lower clock there will have little effect on the speed of its calculations.
P.S. The client keeps the previous 16 logs by default. They are kept in a logs folder in the same data directory as the current log.

It seems to be running fine from what I see.
Overclocking is common, but you'll have to do some fiddling to figure out what works well. Be conservative, we really don't want to kill WU's and that is what happens when an OC fails. If you need to test repeatedly to dial-in your GPU OC try
FAHBench for it won't kill any WU's but still uses Core_17.
One thing of note, you may wish to get a
Passkey. You'll get more points than without one after to qualify it. To qualify it you need to complete 10 QRB WU's and maintain at least an 80% successful return rate.

I think you nailed it when you told me to be conservative on the overclock of the GPU
I got one final question to bother you with. I made several requests for the passkey but received not a single one. Are there any requirements besides the combination of a username and an emailaddress ?

None as far as I know. What has been a problem is that some overzealous spam filters can drop the email into your spam folder. And some mail sites don't always let the passkey email through due to misidentifying it as spam.

14.x Cat drivers seem to perform better than 13.x for Folding.

7im is right:
Use Catalyst 14.2 Beta or 14.3 Beta - and you will get "those points back you loose" while not OCĀ“ing your HD7950
