Can I adjust my GPU usage?

Can I reduce GPU usage and if so how. I do not want to run my stock cooled 780 @ boost speeds continuously. My case if very breezy but everything is stocked cooled for now.
Currently I have removed the GPU activation via FAHControl/config.
FAH 7 has made it much easier for the average Joe to fold with acceptable lower CPU usage. Maybe a similar treatment for the GPU. :)

Thanks for your time.

GPUs are all-or-nothing.

You can underclock, which reduces both throughput and power utilization/heat.

You can configure the GPU sort of like a screensaver that only folds when the computer is idle.

The Operating System manages the CPU using priority and interrupts. It has taken 20 years to develop that degree of control for CPUs. They still process the work given to them as fast as they can and wait when they run out of something to do.

The GPUs drivers have no management capabilities. Work given to it, whether it's folding or updating a screen is processed in the order some app gives it a request and it processes it as fast as it can. FAH's job is to maximize the throughput by keeping the GPU busy but there's no rational way to decide give it less since it doesn't how much it can handle.

As good of an explanation as there is, thanks.
