Unable to get assigned a new work order

I've been running fine for the last 4 months but as of two days ago, I just stopped getting any work units. Figured I'd wait a while to see if it was just temporary but still nothing. I uninstalled and re-installed with the public beta 7.4.2 hoping that would help, but I still keep getting the error "Failed to get ID from 'assign4.stanford.edu:80': 10002: Received short response, expected 8 bytes, got 0"
I don't appear to be having trouble pinging any of the active assignment servers but I just don't know enough about whats going on to figure out where the problem is.
Other things I've tried hoping it would help get an assigned work unit but doesn't seem to help.
- Changed client-type to advanced
- Changed max-packet-size to big

Anyone have an idea of what I might try? I usually fold all winter then stop when the weather warms up here and I hate seeing the computer just sit here doing nothing.

Could you please lower the verbosity level to 3 (the default) since with verbosity level 5, it prints all values which makes it very difficult to see what values were changed. With verbosity level 3, only the values changed from the default settings are printed so it makes it very easy to troubleshoot.
What happens when you enter
http://assign3.stanford.edu:8080/ into your browser? A white page with
OK should show up (it does on my system). Also, have you configured the Firewalls and/or Anti-malware/spyware/adware applications to allow F@H to communicate to the servers? A recent update in any of the security applications could cause an issue so you may want to recheck it.

When I try to go to the assign3 webpage, I get some kind of airOS login screen. on port 80 I get an OK but 8080 gets the login prompt.
I've always run with the firewall off but after disabling avast I did get a change in the error. Now I get the " No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it." so maybe we're heading the right direction.

Could be something our ISP did recently... My wife tried the same assign3.stanford.edu page while tethered through her phone and she gets the OK on port 8080.

Open a command prompt and enter: ipconfig /flushdns
If that doesn't fix it reboot your router?

Re-booting the router and flushing the DNS didn't work but I was able to re-route through a public proxy and get things working that way. Its a little slow but won't effect things that much.
Thanks for the suggestions but I'm betting my ISP did it to me since there was no changes made here locally that I know of. This will get me by while I wait for them to get things fixed.

Windows auto updates unless you turn it off, same with many AV programs. The next update of any of those could suddenly start interfering with FAH. Apps suddenly start running in sandbox mode and can't connect. Not often, but it happens. Even home networking hardware updates itself now.
Reinstalling fah is rarely the fix because it's rarely the problem, so no need to waste time doing that.

I am not sure would say that, from personal experiance if a reboot of the computer does not fix fah when I have a connection problem with v7 a complete removal and renstall then reboot will fix the problem. But that is just my personal experiance others may be diffrent.

I've also been getting a similar response for several days now. I've tried excluding the Stanford addresses from my AV software with no luck.

Have you tried rebooting the router? Did anything change on your end when the problem showed up, updated an application, installed a new one, etc?

Don't worry about assign4. It is a new server which is still being outfitted for future use. The latest versions of client have been prepared to support it whenever it's ready to be enabled but there's still work to be done on the back-end.

Changes to the system...
There was a bunch of Win7 updates around 3 days before the problem surfaced, but I did pick up work units after those were installed. NOD32 updates the virus definitions a couple of times a day, but I have tried both white listing Stanford sites and also disabling NOD32 with no success.
In a browser I still get OK from assign3 on 80 but an error from assign3 on 8080.
In FAH I'm still getting the same error as in the log above.
Very puzzling

Could you please lower the verbosity level to 3 (the default) since with verbosity level 5, it prints all values which makes it very difficult to see what values were changed. With verbosity level 3, only the values changed from the default settings are printed so it makes it very easy to troubleshoot.
I can access
http://assign3.stanford.edu:8080/ without any issue (white page with "OK" in black colour). Has anything recently changed on your system, an application updated, you installed a new software, etc? Have you rebooted the router?

NOD32 is well known to interfere with folding from time to time. Just search the forum for the many threads that mention it.
