This is getting really frustrating guys. My problems with GPU WUs pretty much went away after I was moved to server 171.64.65.69.

Now I am having problems getting CPU WUs from server 128.143.199.97.

I have been trying everything I can on my end to see if I am causing the problem. I turned off my firewall to see if that was the problem. It wasn't.

Now the ONLY way I can get a new WU is to reboot my computer.

Here's today's log file since my last reboot. Next time I try to get a WU I'll add that part too.

Remove the advanced setting to allow the CPU slot to pick up all types of work units. The fail over logic from adv back to normal may not always be programmed correctly. Core 17 is on full release now also.

Just some side things that are probably unimportant to your issue but simplicity is always best.

Remove the core-priority option: It has a bug and doesn't work properly.
You don't need client-type = advanced as a general option as well as inside each slot. If you are going to remove it, may I suggest that you remove it everywhere...

Both the GPU and CPU successfully got new WUs on the first try. I certainly hope this is the final fix.

I just looked again and the GPU seems to have downloaded a second WU as sort of a backup. It looks like this will cost me points for waiting an additional 7+ hours before work starts.

Please post the log showing the client downloading a second WU. That's not something it typically does.

I am back to the problem of not fetching WUs for either GPU or CPU.

From the last configuration shown as saved in the log, you also removed the next-unit-percentage 100 setting from the GPU slot. That has been reported in the past to trigger a premature WU download. A ticket is open on this, but exact details of steps that result in the early download were requested as not all changes to this setting cause this.

Both the CPU and GPU obtained WUs after I made the recommended changes and were folding fine when I went to bed.

When I got up, both GPU WUs had completed. The CPU WU had completed and both were NOT folding, waiting for WUs. This was all in the log file I posted this morning.

I rebooted my computer and both immediately obtained WUs which they are currently working on. I had to reboot one more time due to a Windows patch installation. Here is the log file from the first reboot and since the second reboot.

First, I do not see the CPU WU failing or even hanging. It took 17 minutes to get from 0% to 1% and it was interrupted before another 17 minutes went by. The next log has it restarting from a checkpoint at 0%. From there it took 5 minutes to get from 0%-1% and 18 minutes to go from 1% to 2%. That type of irregularity in TPF's is commonly found when the CPU is over-subscribed. May I suggest that you run your CPU with only 6, 5 or even 4 threads rather than the current 7. The CPU cores beyond 4 are hyper-threaded cores rather than real and they only minimally add to folding speed but oversubscribing is very bad for CPU folding productivity.

The Windows error 0x40010004 is typically found when the Windows desktop fails for some reason.

I will take your word for this. Nothing was folding when I first checked it this morning. I did explain that I had to reboot a second time due to a Windows 7 update.

Please tell me exactly how to reconfigure my folding.

Did you install using the defaults, where Folding is set to start automatically on Windows login? If not, the Windows update rebooted the computer, and you just never started fah again. If not already in the Startup folder, put a copy of the Folding@home shortcut in there.

I rebooted my computerafter seeing that there was no folding going on.

Then I got a message saying that there was a Windows 7 update. I installed that and then rebooted to complete the update.

The FIRST thing I do after each reboot is to ensure that F@H is running properly.

I do not have F@H set to start as a service. I start it my self.
