Hello,

new here (since writing in this section) i would like to ask if i can contribute with my new AMD FirePro W8000 (W7 x64 SP1).

Does it have good performance for folding ?

Also i have a spare machine with an overclocked/watercooled Ati Radeon HD3870 (stock 777/1126, now 960/1200/ WinXP x64). Can i contribute with this also ?

Thank you in advance for your help, i apologize if my questions are too common.

felix

Welcome to the F@H Forum felix,

The AMD FirePro W8000 is comparable to HD 7000 Series so F@H should be able to run on it.

Having said that, I am not sure if the GPU will be detected in the F@H program since I couldn't find the entry in the GPU.txt file. Thus, if it fails to run, please follow the instructions here (viewtopic.php?f=83&t=21205) so we can add it to the whitelist.

Regarding the HD 3870, please note that the GPU is unsupported by F@H. Supported AMD GPUs are HD 5000 or higher.

Hello, PantherX !

Thank you very much for your fast reply!!!

Too sad that i can't use the spare one.

Regarding the W8000, if this can help, the Hardware ID is the following :

Code: Select all

PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_678A&SUBSYS_030C1002&REV_00

The W8000 should work as the latest GPUs.txt does have the necessary IDs:

0x1002:0x678a:1:5:Tahiti [FirePro S9000/10000 (FireGL V)]

Using the client-type advanced slot option should get you core 17 work and without the option you should get core 16 work. If you're also running a CPU slot on the same computer you may want to reduce the number of CPUs assigned to that slot since the GPU slot will require some usage of a core for itself.
