My client is trying to send results to the following server that does not exist:

171.64.122.76:8080

I've tried resetting thing in the Create_Credential_stone and the install (Without re install the DMI) but it keep trying to send there?

My log file?

i spent some time looking on the forums looking for a solution and they appear to all reference the graphical client and setting your internet setting to no. the SMP client has no such option, or am i plain wrong?

Code: Select all

Actually, that server does exist. http://fah-web.stanford.edu/logs/171.64.122.76.log.html It's just offline at the moment. And the v5 SMP client does have a USE IE setting, the v6 SMP client (linux, OSX) does not. But don't worry, you do not have USE IE set to yes. If you did, it would say so in the log you posted.

171.64.65.63 is the work server, and that is where the work unit should really be going back to. Only if that work server is busy or offline will the client try to connect to the back up collection server (171.64.122.76).

I am not so concerned about connecting to 171.64.122.76 as I am about 171.64.65.63. The server status shows that work server to be up and accepting work units. It's odd that the fah client can't connect. Can you ping 171.64.65.63? If you type http://171.64.65.63 in to a web browser, do you see the OK message?

Then the client should be able to connect, unless you have FireWall or Antivirus software blocking the client from connecting. The FAH client simply acts like a web browser when trying to upload and download work units.

Using NOD32?

Nope running zone alarm and AVG

Could it be a problem with a router?

Possible, yes. I have seen where people had to reboot a DSL Modem/Cable Router to get FAH to connect. I've also seen where someone had to reload the factory defaults on a router to get it working again. Let's start with the first one, reboot the Internet (your ISP box). ;)

WOW,

How did you know, and guess what it called BELKIN the usless router.

THe boss has forgotten the password so we need to contact there customer services to see what is happening. if it has a programm access control i will enable F@H

It should be noted that this was not a problem before the router was installed

Ash

Aha, a blue meanie. Even worse. Image

Hey, if you don't mind (and the Belkin thing fixes the problem), I'm going to split this part of the discussion off in to a new thread, because this isn't about the v5.92 client any more. ;)

No problems,

I've unplug the router and am connecting directly from the cable moden. the results were sent first time.

belkin have been advised of the problem.
