Hi,
I have just started folding. Using linux and folding for the first time. Tried folding on a CPU first but using GPU since core17 went advanced.
I am building a new rig for folding and will ask advice as the build progresses.

Welcome To The F@h Forum, halucigenia. You probably already knew this, but I just wanted to remind you that AMD GPU folding isn't supported in Linux (yet). So you'll want NVidia GPU for the new rig.

Napoleon, thanks. I did know that and am planning accordingly. I am already testing out some Nvidia cards on my current machines for compatibility.

On the subject of testing I know that there is FAHbench for Windows, but what's the best testing tool in linux? is there a good test for GPUs in Phoronix test suite for example?

Hi..
looking forward to seeing the specs for your new build.
Yes core 17s a bit hard to get at present, hang in there more should be along soon.
