I have closed over 10 WUs in the past three weeks, but was only awarded a little over 100 points. What gives?

You need to include WU name plus (run, clone, gen) and then people can lookup the specific details of the returned WU. You can find the information in your FAHLOG.txt file.

Without specific details, no one can tell you what is going on. It is possible, that your WU's are erroring out and you are getting few to no points. It is possible, that you are just getting low point WU's. One just can't tell, without looking at your logs.

Latest Log attached. I have also noticed several files in the same directory as FahCore_78.exe to Fah_Core82.exe. Should they be there or can I delete them.

Code: Select all

Hello pmasley,
Welcome to the folding forum.

The 2 completed Work Units shown in your log were worth 85.5 points total. There are a large number of "low-point" WUs available right now, but it's all relative... Work Units that take twice as long to process earn twice as many points, more or less.
You can see what each WU is worth here.
The points FAQ has a great explanation of how points are awarded.

Good to have you folding with us!

Thanks for the reply Alan.

I was wondering what was happening. All of a sudden I started getting small files with all kinds of upload errors and errors stating that it needed to close the program.

Any idea what the other files that I listed are?

Paul

Tobit wrote:Ugh, please edit your post and wrap the lines with your log info using the CODE flags like so:

Rolls over your neighbors dog
What's great for a snack

It's Log Log Log

It's Log, it's Log
It's big, it's heavy, it's wood

It's Log, it's Log
It's better than bad, it's good

Everyone want's a Log
You're gonna love it Log
Come on & get your Log
Everyone needs a Log

LOG, LOG, LOG... FROM BLAMMO!
I do not have the slightest idea what you are talking about. What does a dog and a snack have to do with what I was ask for?

Nevermind. It was a mere attempt to add humor into the example I was giving you. It's common courtesy to wrap you log files around

Code: Select all

tags so it doesn't flood the page. This was what I was asking you to do, and because we were talking about log files, it seemed fitting to sing the log song in my example of what I was asking you to do. "I guess you had to be there"

Tobit, you just completely lost me. Tell this old man how to wrap the file to make it smaller for the next time I need help. :D

I've just done some "touch-up" work on your post to fix the log.

Me too. ;) -7im

I was editing your post at the same time you were. I saved it last (or rather 7im did), and that was the save that stuck.

To make the text go into a code box, all you need to do is this:
put your log here
Edit: We really should stop doing this 7im ;)

Okay. -7

pmasley wrote:I have also noticed several files in the same directory as FahCore_78.exe to Fah_Core82.exe. Should they be there or can I delete them.
You can, but it's not recommended.

Different projects use different types of analysis software to calculate the folding. The FAH software that you installed doesn't really know how to do those analyses, and each of those FahCore_xx.exe are pieces of software that are extensions to the part that you downloaded.

Look at the "Project Summary" that lists the projects and points. Column 9 is called "Code" and every time you get something that uses a different code, your client will check to see if you've previously downloaded that code and if it's not on disk, it will download it. If you delete the ones that are not currently being used, they'll just be downloaded again next time you get an assignment that needs it.
