So I'm having a handful of different issues. I'm brand new to F@H and first installed the latest windows client v7.3.6.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Eset NOD32 v6.0.316.0 and I set all F@H folders and application components in the excluded from file scanning and excluded from protocol filtering/scanning lists
Windows Firewall is left on default and currently has F@H in the allow list.
First here's my log file notice the repeated Send & Receive errors for different reasons, the error stating sid doesn't exist, host machine software blocking connection, remote machine refusing connection.

The other problems I'm having is FAHControl's Identity section is givng me this URL for my "name"
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/mai ... &username=%(donor)s
Which doesn't seem to take me to any status info. Searching the status/results listing manually online for my name or passkey also doesn't have any results.

What is the process you are doing? Normally what is used is simply copy and paste.

Welcome to the F@H Forum Ghetto_Child,
Please note that the error messages are only being displayed since you are using a higher verbosity level of 5. If you drop it to the default of 3, you will not see those error messages.
You need to complete and successfully send a single WU before it will show up in the official stats. Do note that it can take few hours before it shows up in the official stats (third parties can take longer). Have you completed any WU so far or not by using the same username?

I was on verbosity level 3 when those errors were showing up. I switched to 5 after noticing the errors, for more info to work with.
That explanation I quoted you on, I never noticed that in the FAQ. Thanks you, that is very reassurring non-obvious info that new donors should be allowed to discover easier; as in including it in the FAQ at least, if it's not already in it. To answer your question, no I have never completed a WU yet, this is my first time participating in F@H. Now you are certain the connection errors can be ignored? I just figured there should be no errors even at verbosity 3.

Set the verbosity level to 3 and restart FAHClient or your system. If you still get those errors, then we need to find out why they are being printed in your log. Basically, the "error" is telling that you opened WebControl and closed it by using your browser.
Can you please link to the FAQ where you think it should be mentioned so we can look into it?

I can't seem to find the FAQ I used to explain all the terms in the client advanced control software. The one I have in mind had a dark grey or almost black background, lots of software screen shots if I remember correctly. There is an FAQ link that is currently unavailable, oh here is one place
https://fah-web.stanford.edu/projects/F ... rol#Status (as an added note to the "Name" description. I also recommend adding it to any place in the FAQ that describes what the Stats page should load, any other place mentioning donor's name/identity.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. The documentation is out-dated and I do plan to update it soonish. Will take your suggestion into consideration once I get the time to focus on the documents.

I'm still seeing send & receive errors in the log even while set to verbosity 3 after sending in a completed WU. Is this still normal?

Secondly, the Identity section's "Name" URL has not changed and still points to
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/mai ... &username=%(donor)s but the Name displayed in the field is my correct Ghetto_Child ID. Isn't this supposed to be corrected/updated by the software?

When you run FAHControl (the advanced control GUI, there is a connection between FAHControl.exe and FAHClient.exe through which they communicate. I see messages associated with the IP address 127.0.0.1 starting and stopping that connection. You may have a firewall or anti-spyware software that's blocking that connection. You also may have adjusted some of the default values which permit those connections. There are similar settings that permit monitoring of remote clients but the ones associated with the local machine (127.0.0.1) need to be allowed even if you don't have remote connections.

I have not made any changes to any connection settings in the FAH software anywhere. I have ESET NOD32 v6 installed, and windows 7 firewall left on default. I know the Windows firewall is allowing this program to communicate because I checked after installation and it's set to allow use of private networks. I will need more direction in where to look for the culprit of these communication errors. Could browser cookie settings or cookie handling have an effect on those error messages? They were heppening when no browser or internet accessing programs were running. Just a windows desktop with no end user present.

Try temporarily disabling NOD32. It's been problematic in the past, blocking fah when it didn't need to.
