Folding Forum

I've been aware of this project for a few years and have been folding on and off when my situation allows. I'm currently running a Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHZ and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti. I'm running two slots -- One SMP:2, one GPU. It seems my GPU finishes work much faster than my CPU... Is that normal? If you have any recommendations please let me know.

Different projects run at different speeds and you are comparing totally different HW's so just because the GPU finishes faster is not an issue unless it is failing. You'd find that out by looking at the logs.

I wouldn't worry, from what you said everything is still normal.

I have no optimization suggestions, your config looks good.

Traditionally, many of the SMP projects are expected to run longer than many of the GPU projects. There's no set policy. Take a look at the Project Summary and look up the project numbers. We recommend that all WUs should be returned as quickly as possible and also well before the Preferred Deadline. I suspect you'll find rather different Preferred Deadlines.

Thanks guys. I'm running client 7.1.53 (I think) right now, and I'll upgrade as soon as the current WUs are done.
