That is why I don't use betas (unless the card is so new no WHQL production versions exist yet)

This betadriver caused a lot of issues with a GTX Titan. FaH log listed several errors with the gpu wu and a few unexpected reboots too.
I had to roll back to 314.22.

In general, if you have a driver version that works on all of your GPUs (as 314.22 does for me on GTX 460s all the way up to GTX Titans, on both Windows XP and Windows 7) STAY WITH IT, DO NOT CHANGE IT.

Unless you need new features, or you are trying to fix a bug and you think the new driver will help, it is an extremely poor idea (as I found out from painful personal experience) to "upgrade" your driver. This applies equally to AMD/ATI GPUs, and NVIDIA GPUs.

Also, saying that "it works for me" is meaningless, as it does not mean that it will work for someone else, or even that it will work on another one of your own systems.

Some time ago, I had a "driver upgrade" that worked perfectly on the first 2 systems where I installed it (this is way back when I only had 3 systems total). I could very easily have written one of those (meaningless) "it works for me" posts. Then, on system #3, disaster struck (as bruce and others here know very well). After many hours/days of effort, and a lot of dumped/lost WUs, I finally got back to where I never should have left, which was with my old, original, working driver.

That is true, but I kind of like to try new stuff. Software, hardware, anything :)
And I have to admit I usually don't have any issues With betadrivers from nvidia.

Some people are lucky with their combination of HW and SW, some aren't. If you want to see a lengthy blast from the past, search the forum with "NVidia driver lottery".

There are newer gripes, too. I've stuck to WHQL drivers, but even so, I've had a couple of incidents during the past 2+ years. They've taught me to have a plan B - a fresh CloneZilla backup in my case - handy before updating drivers.
