New Version Notification?

I know this must be staring me in the face somewhere
, but where do I go to get automatically notified of new F@H versions? Just noticed that I was at least 6 versions behind.

Good idea. There's a "subscribe topic" link at the bottom of viewtopic.php?f=85&t=19311&p=2370457im wrote:You can subscribe to the new version announcement forum topic until the feature is added.
When a beta version of the V6 client was distributed, it was given an expiration date. This tool was used to make sure that eventually there would be no need to support older beta versions. Released versions were never given expiration dates so if a Released V6 version was re-released with some new features, there was no notification.Jesse_V wrote:7.3.6 introduces Web Control, a Javascript-powered web interface designed for newcomers. Since Web Control is hooks into folding.stanford.edu/client, it wouldn't be difficult for them to add a notification to that page, and everyone using Web Control could see that there's a new version. Previously there was no way for everyone to get updates without following the blog/forum/website, though IIRC some of the old v6 clients had expiration dates, but that was before I joined so I'm not entirely sure how they operated.

Yes. We'll just have to wait and see exactly how they go about notifying users, but Web Control does give them that ability, and there is a ticket on this subject.Stonecold wrote:Wouldn't it be easier to have the software notify the user of an updated version?
No, we already have a method in place that notifies about new,s including new clients (which is what is being recommended). There is no current method of notifying users just of new clients so it has to be developed from scratch and therefore -- not easier.Stonecold wrote:Wouldn't it be easier to have the software notify the user of an updated version?
