FAH V7.2.9 Not folding NV GPU, Always at 0% [171.67.108.11]

Edit by Mod: Split previous topic into two, one for AMD and one for NVIdia.
So far this thread has focused on issues with AMD GPU's. I've got the same problem with my GTX 580M SLI setup.
Thought I had it working before, but not so sure at this point.

Just starting in Windows environment after F@H was killed on the PS3.

Any thoughts?

Please post the System portion of your log file, too little information in that short extract to do more than guess at what is not working. However, as a stab in the dark, do you have a Fermi series GPU? There was an issue a few days ago where the assignment servers were giving out non-Fermi WU's to Fermi equipped systems and those would not fold. If that is the case, you would need to pause the client and remove the work folder for this WU. Then after restarting you should get a new assignment.

Where is the work folder located?

May I remove only the offending WU?

Welcome to foldingforum.org, saliwok.

Apparently you've been changing settings and restarting because this log shows you working on WUs that have already been downloaded. Please find an earlier log that shows the WUs being downloaded. Previous logs can be found by opening Start > AllPrograms > FAHClient > DataDirectory > logs. they'll be arranged by date and time.

There was a time recently that the work servers were giving Fermi GPU's GPU2 projects that use FAHCore_11 that can't run on Fermi's. You need to dump those WU's and let the work servers give you new WU's that will run on your GPU's.

Pay attention to the Work queue number for each of your GPU slots. Pause or quit folding. Got to the work folder (Start->All programs->FAHClient->Data Directory->Work) and delete the folders with the same number as the Work queue numbers for each of your GPU slots. Now you can un-pause or restart folding and the client should get new WU's.

See this post for directions to the folder to be removed. From your log Stephenish, that would be a folder named 03. Normally we do not recommend doing this, but your system is not going to be able to process this WU.

Deleted the 2 folders and it looks like I'm up and running (they were 00 & 02 BTW).

FAH V7.2.9 Not folding NV GPU(Core 11 WU assigned to Kepler)

I just picked up one of these Core 11 WUs for my Kepler GTX660Ti card. I don't ever remember that happening in V7. The log extract below is only for the GPU slot - but it does have the finish of the previous WU interleaved with the download and unsuccessful start of the new Core 11 WU.

It does say in the log: 09:38:28:WU01:FS00:Requesting new work unit for slot 00: RUNNING gpu:0:"GK104 [GeForce GTX 660 Ti]" from 171.67.108.11" - so it obviously knew what card it is requesting work for. But it immediately recognized that it didn't have a Core 11 on the computer, so it downloaded it a second after the WU was requested at 09:38:28.

This is a new card - but I've completed at least 49 WUs since last week - 27 Nov - when I started up the new card replacing a GTX560Ti on the same computer.

i'm on my laptop in the kitchen doing this post - I will go back to where the desktop computer is to pause the GPU client, dump the WORK directory and restart the GPU client. Hopefully, it will immediately download a useful CORE15 WU.

I'll update the post after I've done the above.

I'll do this as a separate post.

I successfully dumped the Core 11 WU, and was assigned one of the re-baselined p7623s (was 5187 points - now is 14093.00.) :D

It would be good to get to the bottom of why this mis-assignment happened - but I'm back on track now.

Well, I ask rhetorically, what did I see?
- The system had placed the Core 11 files in the NVIDIA - Fermi directory. Obviously isn't FERMI.
- While paused, I dumped the Work directory as well as the Core 11 file.
- Upon restart of the folding slot, it thought I was still folding but couldn't find the Core 11, so downloaded it anew. But when it couldn't find the Work folder either, it quit trying and got a new assignment from the Assignment server - a proper Fermi Core 15 WU.
- As seen in the log, I just did a Pause - Fold while I was dumping the work file without stopping the client or the FAHControl GUI.
