What should the View button show?

I just started running FAH and am a bit puzzled by the View button. It seems to show me a map of the world with populated areas lit up.

It says "View protein of the currently selected client and folding slot in 3D" -- ???

For some work units the viewer will show the protein molecule, but not all provide the information needed to display the protein. Which project are you currently processing and which version of theFAH software are you using?

So the protein doesn't show up? What's your GPU and version of the driver are you using?
This is under Windows 7 I'm assuming?

GPU is the graphics processor on your video card.

Re GPU: damned if I know. There's an icon for "Intel HD Graphics" but nothing I can find gives specifics.

It (the View button) gives a well rendered map of the world; no proteins in sight.

GPU is "Graphics Processing Unit" and refers to any of the more modern hardware components that your monitor is connected to.

FAH can fold on GPUs made by either NVidia or by AMD. FAH should be able to display proteins on older hardware and on hardware produced by other manufacturers while doing the processing with your CPU(s) though sometimes there have been problems that needed to be fixed since the Development team doesn't necessarily have the equipment to test a system identical to yours.

On the Start menu, right-click on "Computer" and select "Properties" Then choose "Device Manager" Click the little + sign to the left of "Display adapters" and it will open a list containing the name of your GPU or other video hardware. Tell us what it says. EDIT: I think you just answered that question: "Intel HD Graphics"

The information found on either the first page of the log or the data in the "System info" tab of FAHControl would be helpful. It can be copy/pasted into your next post.

I do not have a video card on this computer. I use Intel HD 3000. When pressed a button View, I see a world map. Inside spinning something dark.
Inside wrote:

Status
Snapshots: xx of yy
Connection: Connected
Protein: DEMO

I guess HD XXXX can only display DEMO.

GPU -- Intel HD Graphics Family

There is NO System Info tab on my FAHControl -- ?
In what directory does it store its logs?

So I looked at that viewtopic...:
>Log information for Version 7
>To see the log in FAHControl you must choose Advanced or Expert in the drop-down selection near the top right of the GUI. i.e. not Novice.
>Above your Identity in the middle of the FAHControl GUI you will see 3 tabs. Select the Log tab.
>You should now be seeing the log showing the progress of your work.

We seem to be talking about different programs. There is no drop down selection that I can find. I can send screen shots if there's a way to attach files here.

I found the log.txt and GPUs.txt files. I can send these, again if there's a way of attaching files.

Sometimes you have to maximize the window in order to see that dropdown menu.

Now that you've found log.txt you can open it in WordPad and copy/paste the top section (System Info & Configuration) into a post here using the code tags found in Full Editor.

In the Windows start menu, there's a shortcut to FAHClient Data Directory and the log file is stored there. Open it and copy+paste the first page into your next post.

Provided your GPU is sufficiently powerful, and has a recently released driver installed, the viewer should show you something like this... about the current work your client is processing...

Image

You can use the scroll wheel of your mouse to move that protein (zoom) closer or farther away in the viewer.
