The errors you see reported in your log are consistent with network problems on your end. Something is interfering with your connection. Check for loose or damaged cables if it is on a wired connection, or interference on a wireless connection.

Hi Joe,
no problems at all with connection from this machine using other programs such as Firefox. Just downloaded a quick torrent to make sure connection is ok.
I just restarted after doing a CHKDSK (no errors) and a full virus scan (nothing).
Got an SMP unit straight away, GPU won't download though.....

Using a browser or downloading a torrent are not ways of validating that your network connection is okay. In fact torrents are known to interfere with F@H uploads and downloads. You would need something that kept track of dropped or resent packets on the network connection.
CHKDSK and the virus scan may be useful to check your system, but do nothing to check your network connection.
As for your getting a SMP WU right away, that download was only about 500KB, so it may not have taken long enough for it to have been interfered with.

FAH sometimes has problems running alongside of torrents. Because of it's design, the torrent can saturate your internet connection and can cause FAH to give up when it can't get a fair share of your bandwidth. If you're having trouble, try completely shutting down your torrent temporarily and see if that fixes the problems. Then at least you may have identified the cause and you can decide what to do about it.

I normally don't run torrents on this machine, I just ran one to varify that my internet connection was
working and the bandwidth was correct - they were.
I think I am/was having a software issue where even though the firewalls were disabled, they were
still blocking GPU4 for some reason. Having deleted them from my system, it appears to be able to
download ok. will have to wait until the current units complete to check uploads.
Then try and re-install firewall and see if I can find out what was causing the issue and why it
suddenly appeared after months of running without issue.
