Hey everyone, some of you know me.
Recent issue is, whenever I fold anymore after alittle while my laptop will just shutdown on me. I even tried decreasing the CPU % which it runs on, and it continues to shutdown. When I first began folding I didn't have this issue. I did find out it only shutsdown when I am running F@H. Any help would be appreciated.
Version 7.1
Intel(R) CPU

Laptop fans only come on when they get too warm ( for most models ). Do you hear the laptop fan come on during normal use or during folding?

Consider using a can of compressed air (you can buy this at BestBuy, etc) to blow out the dust from inside your laptop. Often this can clog the air flow and increase the heat. The BIOS in the motherboard will automatically shut down the laptop when it gets too hot, so as to protect the components. It's happened on mine, but I've basically solved it here by clearing the dust and elevating my laptop so that there's more air flow to the intakes underneath.
I don't always use temperature monitoring software, but when I do, I prefer Speccy. Stay cool my friends.

As above use some compressed air to clean out your heat sink and fans, but do not do this while it is running, shut down and allow to cool to room temp first.

Facepalm, yes that's what I meant.
To blow out the dust, I first carefully removed the back panel on my laptop, which exposed the CPU, GPU, RAM, and the fan. The fan had most of the dust. Some laptops have a removable back panel, others don't. Just be careful.

So it shuts down while your using it?
Did you ever confirm that the fan is coming on?

Purely for the purposes of covering some additional possibilities:
Are you folding on the GPU (if you have one) as well? Are there any other particular applications that you have running at the same time?

Skype has recently caused spontaneous shutdowns in my laptop. Dunno why, but it doesn't happen if I shut down Skype.

Yes, each time I begin folding after about a minute the whole laptop will shutdown.
I do not have an GPU therefore am only running SMP.
I do have skype installed on my computer, however it doesn't run during folding.

Interesting note to make.
V6 doesn't seem to be causing me any issues. It is running fine as we speak.
I did uninstall V7 after finding out that V6 works.
Does anyone know what could cause V7 to continue to do this?
